First Post- First Caddy Owner- Overseas owner at that so limited access to accessories and all....
Anyway after I paid for and signed everything I noticed the red parts from the emblem are missing. Car is in excellent condition and car-proofed with no accidents at all. I noticed the missing red part while the car was being delivered to the Shipping agent and I had to fly back home so took the chance and just had it shipped AS-IS. Now am wondering is it possible to open the glass covering part and JUST remove the red parts? And if so, how do I open the plastic glass lid to change the emblem. Funny it's missing from the front and back too! ANY HELP WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED. |

The emblem on my 03 had a similar issue to yours (I think) and I had mine replaced under warranty. It seems unlikely one could 'open' the emblem to remove any parts without ruining it all together.

I can't imagine taking them out either. Is it possible they just faded? I had to have my rear emblem replaced because of some discoloration on the very edges. But there was no doubt what the colors were. Also, who cares? I might actually like a version without red, who knows.
Post a pic as requested and maybe we will have more insight. |

There's a couple of "new" 07's still at my local dealership that I was checking out the other day. I noticed that the red was faded out in the front emblems. I think it must have been from sitting outside in the sun for so long.

That must be some sun, my older Escalade is almost 3 years old and the emblems look new. Could be a acid rain issue maybe causing the problem |

Thanks for the many positive responses..... you would say one would pay more attention before putting down this much cash for a lux-suv..... it was only that I paid so much attention to the very important factors that I overlooked that and only saw it @ the Shipping Agent's lot..... it will be here in a month or so.... and will take pics for sure once it gets here..... like I can wait anyway.....
RidingD- You do have a red thing on your Escalade, if you know what an Emblem is. And it's a tad rude to say WE when YOU don't understand. |

Dewayne | Dewayne, did you get to feel it as well- did you notice the plastic/glass covering on it? I doubt if these things actually FADE away.... and if they did, mine is completely gone, if am not mistaken I think I saw the glue it peeled off from... had a real quick glance at it, so I could be wrong on what I have seen except for the RED missing - for SURE. |

It's more like the colors are painted on and a solid clear piece is over the whole thing. If any of you ever owned a Pontiac here in the south that stayed parked outside, the red emblem would fade out after a few years. I remember reading somewhere that it is the red pigment that is weak and likely to fade while the other colors seem to last longer.
