Need help in blacking out my NEW '08 Escalade!

Remove this ad
Hi everybody! I have been reading these forums the last few months and appreciate all the great info. I finally got the deal I was looking for and pulled the trigger on a new black on black '08 escalade. I already have the dealer painting the bezel on the back, adding a black sports grill, painting the chrome above the grille, and black taping the racks. What I was wondering was if there is a black piece to replace the chrome on the side mirrors, black door handles, and a black strip for the chrome on the sides? Thx

Re: Need help in blacking out my NEW '08 Escalade!

you should be able to get the Chevy EXT black handles to replace your chrome ones...or hit up a chevy forum and trade someone....as for the mirrors I think you will have to get those painted.

The chrome is plastic and can be painted, have a customer that did this and after a year it still looks great

That is good to hear. My body shop is always hesitant to paint chrome due to the durability issues, but if anyone can do it, I trust these guys can.

I was also thinkng about swapping the door handles. Black ones should be very easy to find. Check ebay or a GM truck forum.

Prep is the key to getting the paint to last a long time, like when painting your house.

Re: Need help in blacking out my NEW '08 Escalade!

Thanks for all the input and also the pics SilveradoSS. I decided to keep the chrome handles and have the dealer paint the side mirrors and the strip below the windows after using black duct tape to cover the chrome and taking pics. The dealer says they strip the chrome off then prep and paint. I post some pics when I get it back on Friday.

It is never driven in the rain. I designed and cut the stripe myself. I have a graphics business.

As do I, ha ha. are you in silverado ss forum as well? i am firestorm there.
my poor SSS has just been busted down to no more heated garage parking except during the day at my shop, and its now my AWD winter beater.
My cobalt that i dragrace never sees rain/snow, and only has 10k miles on it.
the caddy, got major paint film work including complete hood/fenders/bumper/grille/lights/and other vital areas.
google me if your interested, since i cant come right out and say who i am.
Firestorm edmonton. I still think the SSS outhandles the escalade.
