I had the badging taken off my EXT. I took it to my body shop. They put it in their paint booth to heat it up. I don't know how warm though. This helps soften the factory adhesive. I believe they then use a heat gun and remove the badging. I removed the Cadillac EXT from both doors and the rear tailgate. I wanted to remove the crest on the tailgate but that has two posts that are held on with nuts from the inside of the tailgate. It looks good.

Re: Need help in blacking out my NEW '08 Escalade!

a bake cycle after paint is usually 130-140 deg F. about half the temp a B/N truck is baked. however a new shell doesnt have fuel and electronics to burn. I often use a tiger torch to heat up body panels as propane is a very cold flame. while doing so , I hold a digital pyrometer to watch the paint temps. i did a test on a company van i was having crushed, and painted metal will start to bubble around 195 deg F.
painted plastic starts to bubble about 155 deg F. I make sure to keep painted panels below 170. a "heat gun" doesnt move too much cfm air so it makes quite a hotspot that can really make a mess. bake cycle temps are perfect for removal of decals/badges. so is hot water, or hot sunshine.

What I was wondering was if there is a black piece to replace the chrome on the side mirrors, black door handles, and a black strip for the chrome on the sides? Thx

Looking good. I did the same with the ront rnd on my 07 EXT. I just had the front windows tinted yesterday.

Had a 6" sunstrip done at the same time.

Re: Need help in blacking out my NEW '08 Escalade!

A couple pics I took earlier today.... I might try the blackout tape on the roof rails myself. That way it is reversible if I change my mind.
