2007 ESV Door handle problem to look out for

Own a 2007 ESV. Saturday I drove my daughter to a riding lesson. When she opened the front passenger door she got a cut on her hand from the interior silver door handle.

When I checked out the interior handle, the chrome wrapping over the plastic handle had separated and was sticking up on top of the handle. You could see the white plastic underneath. The chrome sticking up created a sharp edge that could give you what looked like a fairly deep papercut. I noticed that the same problem seems to be happening to my drivers side door handle. I'll take it in tomorrow to get the handles replaced.

Just thought I'd let the board know about this so you can keep an eye on your handles - the cut was quite painful for my daughter.

Never understand why GM/Cadillac use this type of junk fittings on an expensive car.

I had this happen to me on my 2007 Silverado...they use they same door handles....They were replaced under warranty and have had quite a few problems with it...luckly I didn't cut myself but I did get a nice scratch...supposedly bad batch with combination of bad mold and adhession...Sorry to hear your daughter was hurt...everyone should check there handles though and get them replaced if there is even a little bit of chippind or delamination.

You have to watch if you wear rings, this can beat up the plastic on the door handles, I know this for a fact because I wear no rings, my wife wears rings and the door handles on her truck looks like wolves were chewing on them, my truck looks like the day it came from the factory, but I still love her
