We are all behind you and wish you the best in starting a fire! If you are successful, maybe a sticky with how-to instructions would be in order. I love mine, but would gladly give it up to snag a new one (or near new CPO) with all the discounts offered. I am sure I could beat my present lease price with a purchase right now for a newer, better equipped model!

Re: Major GM Recall for engine fires - heated wiper fluid

This sounds like GM did not spend too much time fully integrating the system. The inline fuse sounds pretty much like an aftermarket system such as remote starters and alarms. Otherwise, it would be part of the fuse box.

This whole debacle sounds like the Ford - Firestone tire issue. I would hope that the technology would be worked by both parties and used in other applications such as rear wipers (although the rear defroster takes care of this) and headlamp washers. The option is very popular and should be offered as for most folks, a valuable feature.

Re: Major GM Recall for engine fires - heated wiper fluid

Had a new remote programmed ysterday on my 08 and the dealer went ahead and handled the recall seamlessly. Took about 15 minutes.

Re: Major GM Recall for engine fires - heated wiper fluid

Mine was in last week for a leaky window seal, no mention of the recall being done on invoice. Tried it out this weekend, the fuse was not pulled either.

Re: Major GM Recall for engine fires - heated wiper fluid

Sent a note to my dealer earlier this week. He said that the repair parts aren't in yet. Maybe in mid-Nov.

Haven't needed it though, even though it's been cold out. Not much frost.

Re: Major GM Recall for engine fires - heated wiper fluid

I have heard over the last few days that lots of stores have been getting the actual repair parts for this recall.
Be sure to check with your dealer to see if they have any in stock before going back in for the install.
I haven't checked yet to see if we have any.
GM is weird about this sort of thing. Usually when parts are available they pre-ship a certain number to each dealer based on recall numbers in our area. I don't know if we have to order them or if they are just starting shipment on them.

Re: Major GM Recall for engine fires - heated wiper fluid

The recall does not exist in the form I posted above anymore.
The revision is out that calls for installation of the jumper harness and parts are available.
We have 20 on order and will probably keep plenty in stock once they start arriving.
Most dealers should be ordering these parts or at least be getting automatic shipment.

As I said, check with your dealers to see that they have stock available before going in.

The part number is 20773432.

Re: Major GM Recall for engine fires - heated wiper fluid

^^^

I wish it were that easy! As stated, I want out of mine so I can buy an identical CPO like mine for far less than my lease buy-out!!!!!!
