I'm coming up on my first season of warm weather towing with my 20' enclosed race car trailer, which runs about 6500lb max all in.
In 60-70 degree weather, on hills I will touch 200 degrees on the transmission, and on the freeway pretty much 190 all the time. I've seen 205 on long hills before, but it always comes back down when I'm not on the hill.
Where is this auxiliary transmission cooler, and how can I check to be sure all the fluids are acceptable?
On a side note, and speaking of towing, I bought the Hotchkis sway bar set with the intention of installing it to help with towing, but I haven't seen the need for it.
The sway bars make a HUGE difference in towing. The cooler is in front of the radiator. I would not worry unless your trans temp goes above 270, the trans has synthetic fluid in it.
