How to convert your escalade to LED!

Remove this ad
Hey Guys,

With all the LED talk going on here lately, i've decided to do a thread on converting your Escalade to LED.

Fist off, let me just say i consider myself an 'Amateur expert' on automotive lighting. I've converted 4 cars to LED, including my Escalade.

All the LED bulbs the escalade requires are available from this website:

www.superbrightleds.com

Below you will find the amount of bulbs and the direct link to the specs and a part number so you can cross reference when you order. Remember to get WHITE!

2 of these -----------> http://superbrightleds.com/specs/744x-xHP3.htm (Part number: 7440-xHP3)
8 of these -----------> http://superbrightleds.com/specs/bulb_specs.htm (Part number: WLED-WHP)
6 of these -----------> http://superbrightleds.com/festoon.html (Part number: 42mm 4210-xWHP6)

Here is a breakdown of the bulbs:

7440 - Reverse lights (2)
194/168 - Head lights (2) Front doors panels (2) Under sideview mirrors (2) Rear License plate lights (2)
Festoon - Rear dome (2) Middle Dome (2) Front Map (2)

MAKE SURE YOU BUY WHITE BULBS - DO NOT BUY BLUE. THE WHITE BULBS LOOK BLUE.

If you need any help, PM or email me, or post in this thread.

Thanks,
Marco

Re: How to convert your escalade to LED!

Ouch....$100 worth of bulbs. Are they significantly different (brighter), other than color?

Re: How to convert your escalade to LED!

No one said it was going to be cheap!

Yes, they are much brighter; but it's mostly for looks, not performance.

Re: How to convert your escalade to LED!

roccos_van,

Nice job!

$100.00 for all those LEDs is considered cheap in automotive lighting standards.

It gives the inside and out a completely different look and that is worth more than $100.00 to me. Too bad you can't do my Escalade for me. I don't want to deal with it.

What about the DRL bulbs? Are those replaceable to the LED lamps?

SG

Good question. I searched and searched but the bulb in the DRL is some wierd bulb that no one can figure out; so i just left it for now. I'll replace that one day maybe?

If you do a search there is a long thread where someone gets a part number but there is no way to cross reference it with matching LED versions.

On Sylvania's automotive lamp replacement guide, it lists the DRL bulb part number as the 5201. Anyone know where to get LEDs to replace the 5201 bulb part number?

Re: How to convert your escalade to LED!

Mark's chart is much closer than the sylvania one. Never go by the sylvania chart. Here is a cross reference page for people looking to convert to LED.

http://superbrightleds.com/bulb_cros...5201&go=Search

Here is the sylvania chart; i've personally gone through it to show you all how wrong it can be:

2008 CADILLAC Escalade

High & low beam headlamp
HID-D2R - WRONG! IT'S HID D1S...

Parking light
194 - CORRECT

Front turn signal
3757 - CORRECT

Rear turn signal
3057LL - WRONG THE ESCALADE IS LED

Tail light
3057LL - WRONG THE ESCALADE IS LED

Stop light
3057LL - WRONG AGAIN HE ESCALADE IS LED

High mount stop light
Assembly - CORRECT

Fog/Driving light
9145 - CORRECT

License plate
194 - CORRECT

Back up light
7441 - CORRECT

Front sidemarker
194 - WRONG THE SIDE MARKERS ARE LED

Rear sidemarker
194 - WRONG THE REAR SIDE MARKER IS LED

Glove box
194 - WRONG THERE IS NO GLOVE BOX LIGHT

Map light
578 - CORRECT

Dome light
578 - CORRECT

Step/Courtesy light
168 - CORRECT

Trunk/Cargo area
578 - CORRECT

Daytime running light
5201 - NOT SURE; CANNOT FIND LED CROSS REFERENCE...

The best and only way to know for sure is to remove the factory bulbs and see exactly what you have.

The chart is almost 100% correct EXCEPT for the DRL. I removed my headlights b/c i installed 5000K D1S bulbs and the LED top marker light, i did look at the DRL bulb and it had a strange base, the base was round, but not bayonet style. A 3157 bulb is wedge base and it will not fit. Thanks for the reference however, it's much better than sylvania's.

Re: How to convert your escalade to LED!

Here is thread about the DRL:

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...bulbs-use.html (What Kind/Type Of Bulbs To Use??)

No one ever seems to figure out what the bulb is, even after about 5 pages.
