Thanks in advance. | If there connected at the starter it means there running in parallel, meaning what ever the orginal battery gets the second one will get.
The starter might only run with the key turned, however it always has a power supply from the battery.
My GM Senator in the UK alternator was connected to the starter, so was the battery, the idea being when cranking over the alternator was pushing amps to the starter point along with the battery as a clean meaning point.
Question here would be where is the alternator connected to on the truck, i bet that goes to the starter as well.

The pixs I took did not show up very well, and to tell you the truth when I did this several years ago I was more concerned about my battery dying and doing the mod than taking pixs, and now to get good shots I would have to take off the cables and reinstall them. Anyone in the Phila area I would be happy to show them, and have shown a few members.

I know there is a lot of electrical, but needing two batteries seems a bit odd to me. The only thing I can think of that would make it benifical would be cold starts. Am I missing something? |

Most (all?) police cars have 2 batteries, if your not worried about the truck starting when its cold out or in the dead of night, dont buy the other battery, i for one will.... I can buy they piece of mind and no service charge every year for a bit of wire and a battery (genuine parts only i will add) then i'll be doing that.
Many Thanks

My second battery setup is straight from the Tahoe police truck, I installed two batteries for several different reasons, one is for towing our trailer, many times I have to park it on the streets and need to leave the marker/parking lights on for long periods of time while clearing snow or stopping to eat somewhere, or it's snowing and I leave the lights on for safety. Another reason is starting in real cold weather, at our home in upstate NY I have seen temps to -25 degrees many times and -40 plus is possible, although I have engine block heaters the weather kills batteries. |

My local guy could only save me 10-12% and I have to pay my 6% tax!, doesnt make much of a discount after that....I think Im better off just ordering online..I dont understand why they cant hook someone up with a better discount who is spending a lot of money on accessories...makes no point for me to buy from them... |

I'd like a second battery so I can run stuff when I'm parked somewhere. I try to remember to turn off things when I leave the vehicle, but sometimes I forget. Usually, it's not a problem, but there have been times where the battery is low.

There may be other sites on the internet with good prices. I tend to buy online because local dealers are high. |
