If you have your tires rotated at the dealer as part of an oil change do they charge extra to relearn the sensors?

Instead of using the computer and finding a menu to choose to relearn the sensors I had to do the following

    1. Set parking break
    2. Turn vehicle to run position, but don't turn car on.
    3. Press and hold both LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on car remote at the same time... continue holding for 5 seconds or so until horn honks twice.

    4. then start at driver side front tire and let air in or out, and follow rest of the steps above.

    Hope this helps someone!

They will work, but if they are several years old you may want to replace them before the batteries fail in the units, we have been seeing them lasting 3-7 years
    Tpaul and Tpaul like this.

I couldn't get one to relearn by bleeding, I could only get it by pumping up when I did it. After rotating my tires, the shop had no problems with any of them. I think they learned all of them by pumping up.

yea i tried that too.. took the air out all the way almost, re-armed the system, did tire 1, tire 2, and bam pumped it up all the way and nada on tire3.. just to see if the 4 tire would work, and just enough, took 20seconds to make the horn sound..

can i purchase this tool? Is it only just this one tire(sensor) that has the issue since the other 3 work? Would it help if I try another sensor on this tire?

Re: 2007 and up Tire Pressure Sensor Relearn

I pulled the trigger and replaced my alenzas with at least 1/4 life in it for a set of 4 brand new ones from my local firestone. checked dic and all read 36 psi as specified by me. anyways, since I was traveling west with full cargo(hence the need for new tires), I inflated the rears to 40 psi. when I checked the dic, it read the opposite from what is real. the 40 is upfront and the 36 rears. time to reset these tpms. will probably do it when I get back since I prefer my own air compressor tool vs the gas station ones. my point was, you would think these tire shops would know how to reprogram those sensors
