Anyone found a shorter radio antenna

Remove this ad
My antenna scraps on my building garage roof. Does ANYONE have a suggestion for a slightly shorter antenna? I have an aftermarket one right now from an auto parts store but it really does not screw down correct? HELP please. Someone else has got to be having this problem!

Re: Anyone found a shorter radio antenna

Probably the regular radio metal one that comes from the passenger fender. I've had mine hit the roof on some parking garages a few times. What is the exact ride height of the 07-08 escalades anyways? I think the lowest clearance I've been in is 6'8" so far.

Re: Anyone found a shorter radio antenna

The EXT has a regular antenna? No window space like the regular Escalade.

Re: Anyone found a shorter radio antenna

So the Escalade has an old school antenna that goes from the passenger fender and goes above the roof?

Re: Anyone found a shorter radio antenna

See it?

I listen to AM/FM maybe 1% of the time I'm the car. The rest of the time is either XM, iPod, or CD. I could probably do without the stupid antenna.

Re: Anyone found a shorter radio antenna

Yeah we see it. How couldn't we? Definitely not on my regular base lade. That's crazy that they can't use the same antenna as the base Lade (ie eliminate the old school antenna) For Pete's sake, my 6 year old SLS does not have a wire antenna....heck, I don't even think my 1999 Chrysler LHS did either. I thought that was amazing ...IN 1999!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What he said! You will still get some reception anyway for the 1% you use it.

Re: Anyone found a shorter radio antenna

Now, if memory serves me right, Autoloc makes a hidden antenna which is another type of antenna that you mount on the bottom of the windshield (or along the top) and you remove the whip all together and it's like $40. Then you can either fill and paint or stick a small sticker over the hole!

I believe the hole is in a piece of black plastic between the hood and windshield, not the fender, right? You can likely just buy an OEM replacement plastic piece designed for the base Lade. I don't see why it would be any different. But if I am wrong, see above!
