If you go the the Volant site they have some great deals on CatBacks right now...About $200 plus shipping...make sure you go to the Store area at the top.

Holy Poop! Nice find...not sure if either the regular Escalade or EXT model will fit my ESV. I was thinking the EXT model would since the GM part numbers for the EXT and ESV are interchangeable...

Re: Corsa VS Borla ..!!

I was wondering about a sound clip too. Searched but could not find one...The Volants do have a great appearance and supposedly were designed to compliment the Volant CAI on one of Volant's owner's personal vehicle. They have them for both regular Escalades and ESV/EXT in the store right now....I called them several months ago When I found the reduced Escalade CatBack in the store but they did not have any ESV/EXT available in the store...Apparantly, the store is for Overstocked items that they are trying to unload which is why they are so low in price...If you look at all the items in their product list you will find that many are not in the store at reduced price. The engineer I talked to said the 2007-2008 EXT was a unique pipe. I did not ask him if it was the same as an ESV since I have an EXT. Just passing on what he told me. But how can you go wrong for $220 with really cheap shipping? Landed up getting a Borla system because there was no Volant EXT system available at that price at that time. Still have not put the Borla system on so can't comment. Ext's (at least mine) seem awful throaty already in stock form. I even contemplated just removing the rear resonator and putting in the Volant resonator replacement pipe just to see what it would sound like but opted for a full system for long term durability.
I talked to Borla before I bought their system because I was unsure of how the two separate tailpipes from the muffler vice the one bigger one from most other systems compared and they told me that the two separate pipes performed better. After I got the system from Borla I discover that the premuffler pipe necks down from 3.5" original size to 3.25" right at the flange of the Y pipe. It is a very smooth transition but don't know how it will effect performance, but the full length twin outlet pipes from the muffler look good. Am worried about possible drone of the Borla but will have to wait until I get the time to install it. IMHO, Differences between the regular Escalade and EXT make sound bites and drone//no drone comments not TOTALLY accurate unless they are the same model you have. I have the further complication that I will be putting on Dynatech, Kooks, or the new ARP headers in the future and that will further change things. Hope this helps someone looking at the same things I did.

Re: Corsa VS Borla ..!!

Thanks for the info WaterKing, much appreciated. The problem I'm having (which I should be able to resolve rather quickly in a phone call) is that they have only 2 exhaust listings for the late model Escalade, one of which is for the EXT. The one in the store @ an AWESOME price is for the EXT, and since I was looking at the GM "touring" model cat-back before I noticed that the EXT and ESV part numbers were the same, so I have my fingers crossed.

And yes, you're absolutely correct, you cannot go wrong. 304 stainless is the way to go for sure. I've had 2 Volant CAIs in the past ('03 Navigator and '05 Dodge Magnum 5.7 Hemi) and found them to be extremely high quality and a much better alternative to the tube with a filter stuck on the end of it that everyone else was doing...

Looking forward to talking to them tomorrow. Gonna check on their CAI while I'm at it; it'd sure be nice to get the 2 for less than the regular price of the exhaust itself.

Re: Corsa VS Borla ..!!

You might check out the new CAI with ram intakes, VARARAM RAM AIR for GMT900, they take air from alongside the radiator and direct straight into the maf which is repositioned to the front of the engine. Made mistake about headers looking at ARH vice ARP headers.

Don't wanna get too far off topic but nice find. Vararam has an excellent rep with the Vette guys, and the price is competitive with everything else out there. From a "quantity" standpoint you're getting a lot more plumbing for the money too. You can get a ram-air/snorkel attachment for the Volant, but it's extra...

Re: Corsa VS Borla ..!!

D'oh! Volant doesn't make an exhaust to fit the ESV. Looks like I'm back to the GM "touring" model...which I think Corsa makes???

Re: Corsa VS Borla ..!!

That is strange because to quote my Borla instructions: "This Borla Performance Cat-back Exhaust System (Part number 140205) has been designed for 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV/EXT and GMC Denali XL equipped with a 6.2L V8 engine, all-wheel and an automatic transmission" I positioned it under the EXT and it seem right. It is a right side dual exit. ESV and EXT share doors and wheelbase. I decided to order a Volant EXT system during the weekend just in case the Borla is too loud for me. When it comes in I can compare it to the Borla but I do not have an ESV available to me to check it out.

Re: Corsa VS Borla ..!!

One last thing...and I am not 100% sure but if you are looking for a system for the 2009, I think it is different from 2007/2008. My understanding and I don't remember where I read it is that they changed the type coupling on the 2009 exhaust prior to the muffler...similar to the way they changed the way the CAI fits up in the engine compartment. You might want to check a CAD/GMC dealer and ask them to verify which, if any, of the pipes are the same as 2008.
