I have a 2007 escalade ext. Just came from Martin Cadillac with an estimate of $3500 to have my transmission overhauled. My check engine light came on and my car wouldn't shift out of first gear. I only have 44,000 miles on my truck. There is an obvious problem with the seals.

Does having 24" inch rims make a difference?

$3500 to replace just seals? Sounds like the dealer.

    You have a couple options:
Go to a junkyard and find a 6l80 transmission. Pretty common since it is GM and found in several vehicles.
Go to a specialized transmission shop, repeat TRANSMISSION SHOP, and get a 2nd opinion and estimate. Should be well under $3500

Yes it was the dealer. After I told him I wasn't going to pay that then he got "authorization" from the service manager to charge $1000 if I brought in records of everytime I had it serviced. I sat down with the service manager myself and told him that I know that he knows their are problems with the 07 escalade transmissions and I need a list of options to get it fixed at no cost to me. He said he was going to contact corporate. He then told me that the best he could probably do was to charge me $250 to have them break down my transmission and fix it, but he would need to get the approval from the corporate office. So I am waiting to hear back. I also talked with the shop foreman who explained the codes shown in computer (P0796, P2723). On the paper it says that p. c. solenoid 3 and p. c. solenoid 5 stuck off. I'm not sure what the clutch pressure controls do, but I'm sure it's nothing I could've done as he explained that it's inside the transmission. I should hear back in the next week.

    $250 not bad at all

Exactly! He actually said that sometimes they will approve it to be fixed for free, but then I would have to sign off that they would fix it and no warranty would come with it. The service manager also said, "they like to see the customer pay something ". And if I did pay the $250 I would get a warranty on the transmission for three years I think. I said now that I can do...especially since the warranty on my truck was up last year. But the funny thing is- since I left the dealer the check engine light has not been back on and my transmisunsion has not been acting up. I don't know if solenoids can get stuck and then un-stuck, but it's been running fine.

I actually am having problems with my 2006 Escalade. I would press on the gas pedal, and the car did not move. I brought it in to be fixed (not at the dealer), and they fixed the problem, but the same thing happened again. If Cadillac put out a bunch of bad tranmission wouldn't repalcing it, solve the problem. Since the one that was bad from Cadillac was replaced???

    Re: 2007 Escalade Transmission Failures/Problems

Friday night I was trying to drive my 2007 Esclade hard as I had bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the gas. I floored it on a highway entrance ramp and the truck missed the shift from seconds to third and the transmission disengaged. The check engine light came on and when I the gas the engine revved but tranny after like it was in neutral. After about 30 seconds it reengaged but only in 2nd gear. I drove the next 20 minutes in 2nd gear. From a stop all the way up to 40mph. After parking for 4 hours I started it up and the check engine light was still on but tranny acted normal. Saturday the check engine light turned off and the tranny feels fine. I am out of warranty (extended it to 63,000 miles and am at 63,150). I believe I had the fluid flushed at 50,000 miles. Does anyone think that perhaps the engine just misfired and caused the tyranny to hiccup? I can't imagine the tranny had a problem that resolved itself. Any ideas? Thx. Vin

My transmission has a slight bump from 2nd to 3rd. As soon as its warmed up (temp is 150 for the tranny) it stops completely. And it's only at low speeds. Seems very odd to me. Thinking of getting the oil changed on it but in scared to do it. I have no warranty and don't wanna drop 1-2 k on a new transmission :/

2007 Escalade, less than 75 k and the transmission is completely shot. 22 rims but not hard driving...just absolutely shredded. Transmission is going to run 4k for Jaspers to fix with 3 year 100k warranty. The mechanics I brought it to and the specialist after both agree this isnt normal wear and tear. Absolutely expected more out of a "Luxury" brand.

well I did have a failure at 126K bought a new GM transmission from the dealer for 2K and had it installed at a transmission shop. Now I am at 139K and still running great and the trans has a 3 year unlimited warranty on it. And it is a GM new trans not a Jasper.....

OK... me too! tranny just died, tonight. 77K miles... and, of course, only a 5-year drivetrain warranty since Cadillac knows these are crap. I cannot believe how this vehicle has just been falling apart over the past year or so. Unbelievable lack of quality from GM/Cadillac. Really unbelievable.

    Re: 2007 Escalade Transmission Failures/Problems

Ha, transmission problems. I've had more than my share of those. My transmission has been tore apart and parts have been replaced by 2 different dealers. The second guy got it right for a few weeks but now it's doing the same thing again. It isn't as severe but it still slips. 39k miles. It would sure be nice if someone could figure out how to actually fix it.
