Worthwhile to sell 3rd row seats?

My '05 came with the 3rd rows, and I'm not going to use them. Rather than store them, I thought maybe I could get some cash for other mods by selling them. Is there a market for these things? I would think trying to do it on ebay would kill you with potentially having to ship 80-100 lbs of seats.

There's really no market, and when it comes time to sell or trade it, you're going to want to make sure it's all there--seats included.

Given the size and use of a typical Escalade, a LOT of people never use the seats and just leave them in the garage, but you still want to keep them. Sometime in the future you'll be glad you kept them, and it'd be dumb to try and sell them just because they take up space.

I do the same thing, my 3 row seats are taken out and sealed in plastic when my trucks first come home, keep them and do not sell them, I did that on one of my Suburban's and several dealers gave me a hard time at trade in, it seems some poeple use them.

Exactly. Some use them, some don't. But regardless, if and when it ever comes to sale or trade time, you do NOT want things as important as seats MIA, regardless of whether you yourself ever used them or not.

And they are not cheap if you would want to buy them afterwards.

Well, I'm going to be putting a storage system back there that won't allow me to use them at all, so me needing them at sometime in the life of my ownership of the vehicle is out. I'm also kind of tight on storage space. These things don't exactly fit behind the sofa or the work bench.

What's weird is that on ebay they seem to be going for anywhere from $400 to $700, with no apparent rhyme or reason.

Well, then you'll just have to come to your own conclusion, it's just a matter of what happens down the line when you sell the truck.

Trust me you will get about 1k less for your trade without them, unless no one sees they are not there. It may not matter to you, it didn't matter to me at the time, but if you fold them up they will fit in a closet.

You know what's funny, I kept wondering "why would anyone buy these things anyway?"

I wish you had an option to order them or not order them from the factory, I have several customers like myself that take the 3 row out and don't put them back in until it's time to sell the truck.

I really would prefer the truck to have a second row bench and no 3rd row at all, but you don't get much say in that, especially when you're buying used...

Well new you can get either buckets or bench in the second row, but you still have to get the third row seats.
