Has remote start, rolls up the windows, sensors to tell if someone tries to tow it or jack it up to take the rims, also has a proximity sensor. I am sure the one on it would be fine but I figured what the hell. |

Save your money - they're a waste, especially on 07's when remote start and onstar (vehicle location/recovery) are standard. Nobody pays any attention to them (other than to say to their friend "my god that's annoying, why doesn't someone shut it off!" and even the ones that page you are relatively useless unless you're within sight and can get to it quick enough to do something (even then, what are you going to do?)
If they want your car, they'll get it one way or another unfortunately.

I also wish the stock remote had better range - my other units had 2 way paging and it's nice to sit at my desk at work and start the car from the 3rd floor.
I would hate to go aftermarket and lose the functions of the heat/air being set while in remote start. Most aftermarket systems turn on the domelight when disarmed but I haven't observed any that turn on all the lights upon disarm. My Code Alarm on the F150 could turn on the headlights for 1 minute but I like how the factory setup turns all the exterior lights on when the doors are unlocked.
In regards to the aftermarket route install is critical - the 2 way Clifford was a nightmare on my Navigator - false alarms. Had to go back a few times to get all the bugs out. They also charge extra to have th aftermarket remote mimick the factory remotes functions.
I have no faith in onstar - on the older Lade's in my area thieves would disable onstar within seconds and bypass the stock alarm. I'm not a fan of factory alarms - I hope to have it enhanced if that's possible. |

My nanny got home at 1am on Sunday and noticed that my 5 year old had left a door open. She closed it and ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE! She about crapped her pants...lol Im sure the entire neighborhood hates me now.
Just curious, how could someone disable an instant on alarm like that? The alarm has to go off for a short while correct? |

With aftermarket you can get digital tilt sensors to sense anyone jacking it up to take your rims or tow vehicle, does the stock do that? you can also get ultrasonic mic's in the car that sense any change or body mass movement in vehicle ( better than a proximity sensor) which allows your vehicle to be armed with the windows down and puts like a force field at your windows.
That was one of the first things I did on mine when I got it recently, but then again we plan to go on the show circuit so we wanted the aux outputs to do lots of automation inside such as plasma tv lifting out and stuff like that. |

I would say that even with the global position and all of that good stuff you can still get your ride jacked. All you need to do is load it into aluminum box trailor and you will never lock in the location. For state of mind I due use a valet alarm. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
