who ever will attemp to do it or take it to stereo shop, have to be very carefull.
1. motorized running boards problems occure if don't isolate them properly
2. possible feed backs when try to use remote start
3. can damage BCM
all those problems above is not what happened to me, it's what I've seen so far |

I have an after market one for my 07 that was told to me by AL & Ed's to be made by the manufacturer of Viper. It uses my same key fob and I have glass sensors and whatnot.
I do agree that no one gives a crap about alarms nowadays. I don't even think twice when I hear one going off. Mine has a pain in the arse quirk....if you hit the door lock twice, it will set off the alarm. I'm sure my neighbors love it. |

I would say yea without a doubt get an alarm. People go to the nice quite neighborhoods to jack cars. Or at the mall for that matter in many cases on the forums. You drive the most expensive SUV cadillac makes. You know that, and so does thies looking for the next truck to jack up.. |

I had a Clifford Alarm installed with all the bells and whistles. For some reason it was killing my battery. Would only last like one day before it died. The company that installed it wound up taking it out because they couldn't fix the problem. They did however, through the use of a relay and other gadgets, managed to hook up the glass break sensor, tilt sensor and hood alarm to the factory system. At least the horn will go off if someone tries to mess with it. I just need to put in a louder horn to make a little more noise.
My EXT was stolen back in July and I got it back the next day - stripped! I did a ton of research and found that all alarm systems can be compromised. So I did the next best thing - blocked the common entry points and put in a Ravelco anti-theft device. So here's what I installed in addition to the extra alarm points:
1. Jimmie Jammers on all four doors
2. AutoGuard to prevent them from getting into the hood
3. Ravelco Anti-theft device
Like has been said in this thread before - If they really want it, they are going to get it. So I did the next best thing - make it real difficult to get in and start. At the end of the day it's still a hunk of metal surrounded by glass! |

You guys that are rolling the Viper systems, I see that their top of the line system is $799. I know we need some sort of bypass roughly running another $100 or so. My question is how complicated is the install on this system? Did you guys do it yourselves? If I take this to a shop I will get RAPED. I don't want to drop $1500-$2000 on an alarm/remote start system. |

Check them out basically same as vipers! Lil cheaper though but all same acc.! Installed alot of alarms myself and not hard at all if you can get your hands on wiring schematics! Google could find you a lot! More time consuming than anything! Good luck! |

I've got a Viper 791 on my 03', I am to add a tilt sensor, proxsimty sensor (sp), battery back up, and the added speaker with voice add-on's. They are all about $30 a piece, not to bad IMO!
I say they are the best thing. I love my remote starter, past 4 cars have had them, all in the future will as well ! |

I have the pioneer z110 bt, and yes, I have a viper 5901 w/ tilt and glass breakage sensors as well as engine cut off and remote start. It tells me when someone else wants my 1600 dollar nav. Then the 7.62s come out. Stock wont even go off if the windows are broken. If you have high end aftermarket gear, you need dark tint and an alarm if you don't garage it. |
