The sub on the center console are on later models... | |

Look it up myself somewhere.

Although this forum may be slow to respond to some questions, I guarantee you that it is NOT because we lack interest or do not care. Speaking from experience, it is because we are out enjoying our ESCALADE more often than being on this forum!!!!!!! I have received great information here, and admit, do get responses quickly on other forums I belong to.
With that said, I still have the wiring diagrams for my 2002 Escalade, and am willing to share with anyone that sends the request directly to my email (ebalza(at)comcast(dot)net). Or you can take them from here....
Sadly, I have been enjoying the ride so much that I have not fixed my original problem. I too, have a few speakers that are not working. I have had these diagrams soo long, I should know where to look by heart. Well, I suppose my excuse is my two youngest children (of 4) are keeping me busy...
Good Luck to you all! |

Now I can correctly hookup my Infinitiy Reference's in the 4 doors. I did install them in the front, then moved the 'fader' front/back, and they sound MUCH better than stock. You just have to remove the 'cage' the speakers sit in, from the door. Then install your speakers in the cage and that unit snaps back in. Oh, they're 4 Ohms (if you can believe it); However, the sub is only 1 Ohm. Its hard to find a high-pass filter for that one since its crossed over way to high... too much crappy rappy boomy.
Anyway, once I get these done, I might disco those shrill tweeters in the A-pillar which are WAY to 'hashy bright' for CDs. Maybe OK for a tape, but not CDs. The newer drivers give me more bass and totally open up the midrange. They're so much cleaner and better 'presence'.
Now, if I can just find thos mysterious drivers in the console. |

I was wondering how well those infinity speakers fit with the bose amplifier. Aren't GM speakers usually 10 ohms? I got a dead speaker front passenger door (salvage truck, stayed outside for 6 months without side windows or sunroof), and I'm considering replacing 2 fronts 6.5" with aftermarket. |

I took them out, put an ohm meter on them and got 4 Ohms for the 6.5 speakers. Also, the fronts I replaced, play at the same level as the rears, so that'd be another sign.
Also, these speakers have + & - connections. GM likes to use only a + connection itself and the chassis as a ground (called a floating ground).
Obviously, the polypropelene infinitys sound MUCH better, so next is to change out the rear doors. Then, I might try and quiet the tweeters in the A-pillar since they're a little too hashy bright.. and the new drivers are 2-way, so might not need those.
Its a work in progress !
Just remember, to get the door panel off, it doesn't pull straight off, its lifts up. The speakers themselves sit in a plastic cage that pops out, you easily the cage apart (maybe pop some plastic rivets) and insert the new speakers... then pop the cage back in ! Quote:

I woudnt worry much about the ones in the center console. They are tweeters (sounds like) and no much volume comes from those compared to the others. Are you thinking of replacing your head unit as well? I will be replacing the front and rear speakers on my 02, since the truck spent the whole summer outside without a sunroof and side windows on right side, speakers are shot! |
