For people who have gone from a sports car to an SUV...

Remove this ad
Well I am going to be getting a 07 Escalade EXT soon enough and through the last couple of days I keep on having regrets about getting an SUV. I have allways loved driving fast with small cars...but if I get an SUV I wont be able to drive as fast as I hope to. Maybe im wrong but I am sure I wont take the risk to drive fast with an SUV or make sharp turns with an SUV (Know what I mean?). The reason why I want a 07 EXT is because I love the style and I can customize it the way I want it to be, but now that I think about it I can spend 54 G or so on like...a new 335I BMW or save up and get the new Mustang Shelby GT 500 once it comes out.

So all I want to know is why I should be getting the Escalade EXT. Why did you guys get an Escalade? Could be for the family, buisness, and etc...But I want to know if you enjoy driving it daily...and why...

Re: For people who have gone from a sports car to an SUV...

i love my truck.. you can take the suv out in any weather and not really have any concerns.. you can haul things.. for me with the EXT i can fit 5 people comfortably... its obviously a sharp looking truck.. i have done my share of speeding in this truck and have passed 100mph and had not worries... i have also taken some sharp turns but i keep it to a minimum... but i will say there isnt a day that goes by that i think about having a nice sports car.. i get some of my thoughts out when i drive my girls Scion TC but i miss having my CTS... all in all i am very happy with the SUV especially here in nj when it can get bad during the winter.. but i do always look around at the pricing for other cars.. before i got the Escalade i was on the verge of getting the Audi S4.. an amazing vehicle.. the guy said i can make a 90degree turn doing 60mph with no issue but wouldnt let me test it lol... but none the less no matter what you do you will always think the grass is greener.. each vehicle has its own benefits but i must say that i would rather be in my Escalade God forbid any accident should occur.. i recently was driving and saw a nice red sports car on the side of the road with absolutely no front end.. it was gone... after that is was nothing but cops, firetrucks, ambulances, tow trucks, and what looked like 2 hours of traffic..

Heh first talking about the S4. My new Brother-in-law just got a brand new S4 (special edition RS4 Package). I have to say I agree after driving this car it is amazingly fast and handels great. But something about it makes me not want that car.

2nd thing to talk about...I used to have my share of accidents in sports cars as well...but everytime it was never my fault so I never became afraid of sports cars. I will just miss the speed and being able to make sharp turns with them.

I enjoy driving my 04 Ext daily... a lot.
I've had Sports Cars but always had a truck along with it.
I can't live without a truck of some sort and things finally got to a point where I wasn't driving the Sports car much and was using the truck all the time.
I got an Avalanche in 2002 because of the midgate feature.. 4 doors but the option to haul 4x8 sheets of wood or whatever and it still handles great with the somewhat shorter wheel base than a actual truck.
It rode pretty nice but since I was driving it all the time I wanted a better ride and finally got a 04 EXT and I love it.
It handles great and I can haul people or Stuff... like the Avalanche.

You will like the the 07 EXT.. no it's not a Sports car but it certainly doesn't feel like your driving a truck.... and you have something that can do a lot of things beside just haul a couple people around.
They handle a lot better than people realize.
I know the 07's are better than the previous models and I had a few times in my 04 going into a turn a bit too fast for the conditions and before I realized it the Stabilitrak kicked in and handled it great.
Would have been off the road in any other type vehicle of it's kind.

You might miss the Sports car at times but I think you'll be liking the new EXT.
Good Luck with it.

Re: For people who have gone from a sports car to an SUV...

As said you will miss having a sports car, personally I would not be happy without one, in fact this is the first time since 1985 that I have not had a modified Corvette, and I miss that a lot. I did have up until 3 weeks ago an M5 that I have had new since 02', sold that, and that was fun to drive. Don't get me wrong, the new trucks are fun to drive, they run good, but they are no sports car.

Re: For people who have gone from a sports car to an SUV...

I got a CTS-V to go fast but no matter what there was always some1 with a faster car so i decided to buy a sport bike since then i havent touched my V and find myself driving my truck everyday.... by driving a SUV you save yourself for a couple of tix... the best part is no1 can c in your truck when your getting road head

Re: For people who have gone from a sports car to an SUV...

I traded in my Integra R-type for an Escalade about 2 years ago. Why?

A small sports car in Texas is a piece of debris on the road. No one sees you or respects you. Plus, if you get hit, chances are, it's a full size pick-up truck (being driven like a sports car) and you're toast in a tiny car. If the roads get wet (as they do rarely in South Texas) they're like ice - not so much fun for a light-weight ricer with a lot of horses for the weight. I also had growing family needs (space for kid transport) and a need for an SUV for home projects. It was time to dump the irresponsible sports car (as my wife called it).

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED driving the Integra and I miss it from time to time, but my Escalade gives me enough of the acceleration exhilaration, a snug grip on the road, looks and feels great, without the fear of death and dismemberment from some other vehicle.

Ya I get you. But the thing is like...Im not exactly starting a family here or need it for work...I just want it for the looks and how I am going to make it look nicer with aftermarket stuff...

Re: For people who have gone from a sports car to an SUV...

I went from a 500hp corvette to an 07 ext, and dont regret it one bit. Yes, there are times where I miss slaming into 2nd gear and revving it out, but the luxary of the NEW escalade is hard to beat. Plus, with 403hp its not slouche. Bolt on a whipple and you are looking at 500+. The smooth ride and styling of the new escalade is far better in my opinion than a new sports car.

Re: For people who have gone from a sports car to an SUV...

I would love to drive a sports car or a bike. But I know I love speed so much that either I or the car would get killed pretty soon (after a lot of speeding tickets.)

And the Escalade is fast and funny even in the winter!

You only think the Escalade is fast until you drive a sports car.

..Of corse you can`t compare the escalade with a sportscar.
I meant with the size and weight the Escalade is pretty fast..

Re: For people who have gone from a sports car to an SUV...

A few weeks Ago I drove my sister in-law's audi a4 (I think its an 02) and I felt like I was ON THE GROUND no doubt I felt more comfortable making high speed turns, but I drive my escalade like a sports car anyways, but I would be SO scared to ever own a sedan again and if my escalade fetish and cadillac last I will never drive another sedan. I LOVE MY ESCALADE!!!
