EXT under seat sub box

Remove this ad
ANyone ever use this box for under their seat on an EXT? I have an 02 & it doesn't fit right. I can't get intouch with the vendor I bought it from for any help. If you used it, did you have to do any mods to the box or your seats to make it fit right.

Re: EXT under seat sub box

Can't fold the seats back down so you can sit in them, doesn't go all the way to the back of the under neath of the seat... It just seems like the wrong box. May be the 02's are different from the 03 - 07's...

Re: EXT under seat sub box

well this is probably because the box is too high.. did you remove the black plastic pieces under the rear seats? this will give some extra room

I didn't remove the black plastic, do I need to? Any other mods? How do they come off?

Re: EXT under seat sub box

with that box you will probably have to... you can easily remove them with i believe a torq head.. not sure what size.. the one with the star tip... just take a bunch of those out and the plastice pieces will come off

Re: EXT under seat sub box

There is a box behind the rear seat on the drivers side, it's plastic & looks like it removes pretty easily. What is it? Does it need to be moved?

Re: EXT under seat sub box

RichieRich,

Just incase you need anymore info, I have that exact same box in my EXT, the black panels under the seat do need to come out and the plastic piece behind the drivers rear seat needs to come out, inside of it are some computer boxes, after you remove the plastic pieces the computers can be moved around I stuck them between the box and the firewall farther back under the seat. I tried three different boxes for this set up and this one sounded far better than the others, this box actually has about a half cubic foot more of air space than most, I'm running two JLW6 and they flat out rock.

Re: EXT under seat sub box

Sloppy D, I was just out there for 2 hours... This box is a real b!tch... I figure how to make it fit & you are on the money, too bad I didn't see your post first. I'm not real big on moving the computer stuff, it's the auto level system & the reverse sensor... Can you post a pic of where you put yours So I can check it out befor I do it. The only other thing I could think of was to cut the sub box which I didn't want to do for the exact reason you stated, it's bigger than any other on the market & it slams....

under seat boxes are good for some filler bass.. you wont really get any sick slamming bass.. most subs that fit in the under seat box can only handle 200 watts or so.. and the only bad thing with the ebay boxes is that they are ok quality but not the best.. i mean for 40-50 bucks you get what you pay for.. a box that can handle some small subs and sound ok.. again just filler bass.. you wont have anything that will pound hard just something to give the little extra boost...

Re: EXT under seat sub box

if you go get a custom box you might be able to get better subs.. i saw a shop that did a custom box in a hummer SUT but he had to cut the floor carpet to fit it... if you are looking for slamming bass the best options are replacing the midgate or going with a whole bed system... JL Audio makes a replacment midgate with 2 12's but its like 1200 bucks..
