The transmission in my 2002 Escalade AWD is driving me crazy but I've been told by the dealer that the transmission is performing to spec. One problem is that when I pull away from a standing stop with light throttle pressure once the transmission shifts into 2nd it will not downshift into 1st. By contrast if I pull away from a standing stop with heavier throttle pressure the transmission will downshift from 2nd into 1st. I also have the problem where the transmission will not downshift from overdrive into 2nd but instead will only downshift into 3rd. This makes passing much more difficult. I'm convinced that this is programming issue but my local dealer is not convinced. Interestingly, I had a loaner 2004 Escalade AWD for a day and that model did not the same transmission problems. Has anyone else experienced these problems and if so how were they resolved?
