Question 2000 Escalade question on rear hatch?

Hey all, I am new to the forum, I am looking to buy a 2000 Escalade in a few months, and I have been looking around at some on the net, and I have a question. What's up with the split rear doors vs the tailgate/glass hatch one? Was it just an option in '99 and '00 if you wanted that it was ordered? Or does it mean something, like the split door ones are 3rd row seaters, and the tailgate version is not, etc? I really don't like the split rear door at all, so I will find a tailgate one for sure, just curious why there was 2 different ones.

I LOVE these SUV's, and can't wait to get one. I would love a '02+ model but they are out of my range right now. I currently drive a '99 Hugger Orange Camaro SS, my website is out of date if you go to it, I have 18" Chrome Z06 wheels on it now, and more mods, etc.

Well, thanks for any help and I look forward to hanging out here!

    Scott

you could get either style in either year..

i just picked up a 99 and i had to have a tailgate style, the barn doors are a big obstruction in my opinion. look around for the perfect truck and good luck finding it, it is out there. and dont settle for something you dont want.

never seen one with spilt doors.

I just picked up a 2000 Escalade and I love it. So far I haven't seen one like it. It white with factory 17in spilt five stars made by Niche w/some meaty tires. I need to take some pic's so I can post them.

I just want a 3rd row seat now.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I hate the split door ones, so I am gonna hold out until I find the one I want. It's gonna have 22's on it for sure, no other way to go, the factory wheels are just too small for these big SUV's.

I have the split doors on my '00 and like them. I pull a trailer from time to time and the split doors work very well with the crank on the trailer hitch. The posts obstruct some of the view out the back doors, but it hasn't bothered me. I also don't have to open the whole back end, which is real handy with the dogs.:rolleyes2
