They told me coolant is leaking from the front corner, and the gasket needs to be replaced.. $687. (and some change). Well, they told me that I need heater core adaptors and they are replacing those too.. Which might explain why my A/C is not working right either. I'm going to drop it off in the morning for the service, and I am not a happy camper. I'm kinda pissed because I've already replaced my upper and lower radiator hoses and the waterpump.. then the leak comes back and now I need my gasket replaced. I probably blew the gasket on my way to Palm Springs a few months ago.. (90 m.p.h. speeding ticket) How does a leaking gasket affect the performance? I know that it can drain your fuilds and cause you to blow your engine, but does the leak cause your Escalade to lose power because of the hot air coming thru the seal? I really can't afford for anything else to go wrong with her, and if my AC isn't working normally when I get it back.. I'm going to lose my rabbit *** mind. Anyhow, I'll post some pictures of the trip upon my return. (just like the Palm Spring vacation) *thinking $700.00 to drive my baby to TAHOE is insane* I'd rather just drop off the money now and take the Escalade vs. the explorer. Either way I'm going to have to come out of pocket for the fix. |

I talk them down to 617.00, I pick up my Escalade and start driving to work and everything turns off.. My voltage meter drops, on the freeway!~ I make it to work and my Escalade finally gives up and shuts down. I get a jump and leave the cables connected and my voltage doesn't even reach the quarter mark.
I call and explain has happened.. This ******* tells me yea it sounds like your alternator. I said, yes I know that! He explains well sir sounds like your alternator just happen to go out the same day you got your gasket replaced! I say, "let me get this right, your saying my alternator went out and it's my problem now?" He says "yes"... I told him, okay that's all I need to hear, I hung up!~
I called back, (I was going to find out who the regoinal manager was and demand a resolution) he answers, sorry I was just going to call you. I spoke with my mechainic and he may not have tightened your alternator cable all the way.. Can you have someone there look at it? I told him NO! I don't want to compromise any case I proceed with, having someone else work on it. You were the last one to work on it. Now they are on their way here right now to have a look at my Escalade....
Once they have a look at her, I'll post what the outcome is... I am very very pissed about the whole situation! @#POU |

They reconnected my alternator and charged my battery when they got here. I'm still going to report their manager on the regional level. |

I hate when stuff like this happens. The service guys need to be a little more careful when they work on our cars and trucks. I had a friend of mine once buy a brand new Porsche (I believe it was a Porsche) and on his way home from the dealership, he was testing it out and going a little fast when he realized it was making weird noises. It turned out that the lug nuts weren't tightened and were loosening on the drive home. If he were to drive for like another couple miles, his wheels could have fallen off. How does stuff like this happen? It's unbelieveable. Good luck with your situation.
Thanks. |

My favourite was the technician putting 10W30 oil in my Dodge Magnum.
Its says 5W20 Only right on the filler cap.
If I had driven away, Chrysler would have been buying a new engine after the MDS sludged out.
People are not perfect but some things are just retarded.
Too bad you get to experience it the hard way.
Ask for free oil changes, a cadillac jacket and cap. |

The worst part about all this is, my Escalade is still leaking coolant. Just a couple drops in the morning when I come out, but if you go back.. I've already replaced my upper and lower radiator hoses, water pump and now the intake gasket manifolds... I spoke with a manager from another store, I'm going to take it to them to solve this problem (free of charge), and fill out some paperwork which will go to a regional represenitive. here's the pictures though..

Mechanics dont care and want the money asap peace work this is what happens. I am a Service repair shop owner, I take every vechile in very personal, I take pride of my craftsmanship. I go out of my way to make my customers happy. I bought my trucks back so many times to the dealer for warranty work and it doesnt matter were you bring it there all the same. I have reached a point were even for the oil changes that are free I do it myself because twice the dealers screwed up. Once they changed the oil and I checked after the windshield indicator light went on opened the hood and checked the oil and was still black. But the one that top it was when I started my truck and the oil pressure light was on after 5 seconds shut off and no oil. I complained got extended warranty from cadillac but when you compare to mercedes they are corporate owned. Mechanics get paid by the hour so they take there time and if something does happen it goes directly to head office. GM to improve there service has to at least buy out all the Cadillac private dealers and make them corporate. Then you would see the service improve and customer satisfaction meet mercedes.......anyway I would demand them to cover any electrical problems for at least 6 months because of that mistake. There is a high chance that it might of damaged the bcm, tcm, ecm or even the harness the postive connector of the alternator could of touch anything that is metallic which is a ground. |

I'm not having any A/C troubles. On my way to Palm Springs this year the A/C ran fine all the way there.. Last year on the way to Tahoe I didn't have trouble either, and the temperatures ran up to 113 degrees. Pop your hood and find out if your clutch is engaging, when you system is not cooling. Hope that helps. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
