Question Volume of an aftermarket Exhaust

Remove this ad
What kind of noise is produced from an aftermarket exhaust such as Borla, Corsa or Billy Boat/Triflow?

I have heard the 07 Escalade stock and it sounds like a BEAST. I would like the possible improvement in power/gas mileage from an aftermarket exhaust (i am also going to install a Volant induction system) but i dont want the truck to be LOUD.

I have a Magnaflow exhaust on my 04 Avalanche and it is pretty loud (the sound from it is comparible to a 40-series Flowmaster). You can get away with this on other vehicles but the Escalade is a luxury vehicle and the same sound doesnt fit well.

What kind of sound are/have you experienced from an aftermarket exhaust at idle, cruising and full open throttle?

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Volume of an aftermarket Exhaust

From what I've heard from reading the forums is that the Corsa will make the idle note sound a lot better, and only be louder when you romp on the gas. Inside the cabin you should barely hear the increase.

Re: Volume of an aftermarket Exhaust

Borla and Corsa will be the choices here, Magaflow or Flowmaster is for real truck only, too loud.

I cut off the last facotry resonator and put a straight pipe, the sound is great, just like my Touring verison of Corsa on Silverado SS. I'm not going to change to catback system this time, because there's no sound improvement. Plus I already lower backpresure after taking out that small factory installed resonator.

I do want to get an Volant air intake. Any one has got one already.

Corsa huh, i have never had a corse exhaust....but i like that idea of it only being really aggressive when you get on it.

Re: Volume of an aftermarket Exhaust

I like the look of Borla, i might go with them.

With Corsa or Borla, are there different "series" like the Flowmaster? I mean, is there only one style exhaust for each vehicle or can you specify? If so...which series/model is the quietest?

I assume even the quietest version of any aftermarket exhaust will still be louder than the factory.

Re: Volume of an aftermarket Exhaust

Which one is better sounding and/or gives the best performance...Borla or Corsa? What is the price difference?

Do either of them have anything out for the new Escalade yet? I wonder how long it will be before they have something for the EXT.

Re: Volume of an aftermarket Exhaust

I have a B&B sitting here to install on my 07', will most likely replace it with Corsa Touring when they are out. I have had many Borla and Corsa systems, I have been happier with the Corsa on my SUV's, less interior noise.

Re: Volume of an aftermarket Exhaust

2007EXT There we go again being similar. I am considering a aftermarket system for my truck whenever it gets here. I have a Magnaflow system on my Avalanche too. I love it but as you said earlier it probably won't work on my new truck. Let me know what you end up getting and how it works for you.

Ranger...are you sure you arent my clone?

Carl seems to know what he is talking about...i will probably go with Corsa when they come out with one for the EXT.

Hey Carl, how much am i going to have to spend for the Corsa exhaust?

Re: Volume of an aftermarket Exhaust

I hate those exhausts that go out the side like on most pickup trucks now, its just so ugly, I eventually plan on putting an exhaust on, I want one like the bmw m-3 and m-5 straight quad pipes, I saw some guy with an 07 do that but the pipes on the outside were dark and the ones on the inside were bright chrome and it looked AWFUL..

Re: Volume of an aftermarket Exhaust

Really? How did he get quad pipes out the back? Did he remove the spare tire or did he wrap the pipes around it some way or what? What kind of exhaust was it? Did it sound good?

Re: Volume of an aftermarket Exhaust

How many resonators do our trucks have from the factory? I have a Corsa sport exhaust on there now but I want to beef it up a bit more. Has anyone had experience with removing them? Big difference?
