HeadLights Conversion

Hey guys I want to know if I can change my 2002 Escalade Headlights for 2003 or 2004 Escalade HID Headlights. Is it a simple Plug and Play with a little motifications or very difficult ? Also do I have to change the whole set or just get the Light bulbs and Phillips Ballasts ?

Re: HeadLights Conversion

I have been putting HID's in my cars for some years now, and yes it fairly simple. I have HID's in my high beams and my stock fog lights are HID's as well, and the 03's comes with stock HID low beams. If you want to do your low beams you will need the 9006 kit which is nothing more than the HID bulbs and the ballasts, just make sure to get a brand name like Philips or Sylvania. You may want to contact this guy, I have purchased several items from them and always get good service.

Re: HeadLights Conversion

I would get a heavy duty harness which should cost you around $50.00, and put 5 amp heavier fuses in the headlight fuses, these are in the fuse box under the hood.

Re: HeadLights Conversion

So where can get the heavier Harness. Should i get it from the dealer ? All have to do is put them in and change the fuse to the same amp as the 03 and give it power and ground and i should be good ? Don't want to buy them and be stuc wth them cause they wouldn't work.

Re: 02 HeadLights Conversion to 03-05?

So can I change my 2002 Escalade Headlights out for 2003 - 2005 Escalade HID Headlights with ballast. Will my 02 harnesses plug in to the 03-05 headlight, Is it a simple Plug and Play?

Re: HeadLights Conversion

The actual head light assemblies will fit, but as far as your wiring, they will definitely NOT be plug and play. Not that the wiring mod would be difficult, but you wouldn't be able to just plug them in and go. For the HID, you should just be able to cut the plug off for your low beam and splice the wires into the input of the ballast.

Re: HeadLights Conversion

or i have read that you can buy an aftermarket kit from ebay for around $150. now someone that is more knowledgeable will chime in and help me out here, but i believe the reflectors in the 02 are differant then the 03. so yes the ebay kit will work in stock 02 lights, but i believe that they will kind of blind people because of a differance in design.

You are right. The 02 reflectors have different optics & bulb shield than the 03 & newer reflector. Yes you can drop in a rebased HID bulb, but you will also have alot of unwanted glare that can be danagurs to oncomming drivers. I really would suggest doing this if you care about blinding people. Its wores on a SUV/truck since they already sit higher than cars.

The 03 & newer headlights will fit the 02, but as stated, you will need to make a few wiring mods. Plugs H & J on the headlight harness will need to be removed from the plug & wired to the ballast. That is the hardest part (not hard at all, but the rest is easy). All you have to do next is mount the ballast, install the lights & your done. You might have to change the fuse to a highter amp as I dont know if the non-HID lades you the same amp as the ones with HIDs.
