Like most of you guys on here, I had the shake in the steering wheel due to the intermediate steering shaft. Well after 6 trips to the dealer, still no luck. They have lubed the shaft but that is really only a temporary fix. They know about the problem, but it seems like they keep giving me the run around about the new part. The parts department tells me that whenever they enter an order for the new shaft, Cadillac cancels the order and says there are none available. How long can the damn thing be on back order, especially when they know there is something wrong with it? I just feel like they are content with just lubing the shaft. If there is a service bulletin on the problem, why wouldn't they keep enough on hand to fix the problem. Any ideas on who I can call or talk to, at this point the dealer is of no help. |

I read about people having trouble getting the parts from their dealers on the GM truck forum because of so called parts shortages, maybe it's true.

This was a few months ago at about 44K miles. I was asking about a rattle sounding noise and the dealer said there was a TSB on the steering shaft and that they had replaced it? |

Keep me updated I been to the dealership 4 times about my steering shaft for the squeaking and was told that they won't replace it because it wasn't broken. They just lubricate it but the squeak keeps coming back. |

I have had our 00 in four times for the same probem. The shaft was lubed/replaced/and lubed several more times. The steering would always pop. Now, it only pops once in a great while. I hope the lube needed time to work. |

Well just got my truck back this morning and just like I posted, all they did was just lube the shaft again. So after arguing with them all morning, I just told them everytime I hear or feel the problem I will be coming right back. Is there anywhere I can vent some of this frustration? Would this be Cadillac of USA ? I remember getting follow up calls after service, but can't remember if it was from the dealer or Cadillac themselves. |

I had an 03 EXT (outofdablue) and now my 04. I think I am going to change service reps first before I change dealerships. Does anyone know how they determine what service rep gets appointed to you? I always thought it was by alphabetical order. I have argued with this guy many of times. I think he doesn't like me because I am 28yrs old on my second Escalade. I will be asking for a new service advisor. I feel like I should be working there. Between my personal experience and all the info I gather from this forum, I have a lot more knowledge than any of the reps there. Usually, when I go in for something I tell them what "I think the problem is" and most of the time I am dead on. I told them plenty of times to use this forum and they would just look at me like I was crazy. Just a bunch of F!in knuckleheads if you ask me. |

It seems like people have very different experience with this.

There is a new updated shaft that is out now. I called corperate and talked to a rep and that really put a fire under the service writers ars. Plus there is a good record for further problems. Once I had the updated shaft all of the problems that you are talking about are a thing of the past. Regardless i was in the same boat you are in. Be persistant and you will get what you want. First thing is first, call corperate cadillac. |

Just had my 06 in the shop last week for the same issue. 30k miles and felt like there was sometning loose in the steering or front suspension. My service rep new exactly what it was. Replaced it with an updated shaft and I picked it up that afternoon. We'll see how it is at 60k if I still have the lade. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
