I mentioned something about this in the "I'm the Victim Thread" but I figured I would start a new thread to see if anyone had any input on this.
I have seen it on pimp my ride, and thought it was awesome the way they integraded it. You can actually have it set up where it takes pictures and emails them to you if your alarm is set off. This would be great for all of the jackings/vandalism that has been going on.
Does anyone here have an knowledge of this? http://www.drivesoft.net/index.html Quote: |

But when it came out, I talk to West Coast and they told me they could set it up for $15,000. Which is fairly expensive, but then again... someone could do or take $15,000 worth of damage from your car and you could never catch them without it.
Good find man and thanks for sharing. I'm going to research more into it. |

He is gathering information now and trying to set something up. Don't forget, that we have been planning on redoing the Escalade... so i'm glad those low lifes last week ruined now and not after I flip the exterior and interior on that thing!! I ordered 30 cameras a month or two ago, so those are going in too (live video, not recorded). This way, I can have monitors facing out the rear 3rd windows and record people rolling next to me and they can look into my window and see themselves. Some other ideas, like flip down visors and instead of looking into a mirror, you look into the camera and you show up in the visor monitor.
$15,000 is rediculous and I would never pay that. My interior guy has set up "carputers" with 10 inch in dash touch screen monitors in the past and he said the only difficulties he would have, would be setting up the cameras to take pictures when motion is dected and then sending it via email. But setting up a wireless internet connection is cake.
I'm starting a thread soon. So look for it, it has some photoshop chops of my Escalade will look like soon. It goes into the shop this weekend, after I get back from LA.
Can't wait!!!!!!!!!! |

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!! | Yeah, carputers and wireless email is very very easy to set up. The cameras would be pretty easy to set up too, using the computer. The only thing that I can't think of right now is how to have the cameras take pictures when the alarm goes of, or like you said detects motion. The alarm system would have to be integraded with the alarm. Im nice with computers, but not with alarms.... |

What you need to do is make sure people know they are being taped before they break into the car so that they don't steal stuff and then get caught, but they think twice about breaking into the car in the first place. I hope you understand what I am saying.
Thanks. |

Thanks. | Yeah. They make alams where you can record something and have that play. Like the "please step away from the vehicle" you could have it say: "you are to close to the vehicle, you are being recorded by ____ ___ systems" That way, it will deter them from breaking in AND you get to see who is creeping up on your ride. |

You can also have a monitor in the car that shows them being recorded at that moment. I know Bryan was talking about putting monitors in the windows so cars on the road can see themselves. This could just be another use. I definitly like the idea of voice alarm. It sounds like a good idea and it will surely get their attention.
Thanks. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
