Exclamationway too much rust ?? 2003 ext

I have a 2003 ext with about 145,000 miles on it .... when I bought the truck it had 45k on it .... no rust issues .... both rear wheel wells along the edge of the well on the body have rust in them like crazy and the paint is bubbling and cracking off... also right above the end of the driver side sidestep there is big hole now from the panel rotting out from rust ... how can this be possible . I understand I live in the Midwest ..
Chicago area .. and snow and salt and rust and how it works ... I know the truck is 11 years old now but seriously I have not seen and lades with this issue and I see a lot on the road my year or newer cant be off by too many years ... is this something that can be covered by factory ? ( not holding breath) and also anyone had this issue and repaired what kind of repair bill am I looking at from a body shop

    thanks LOU

Definitely not coveted by any factory warranty.

Several thousand dollars of metal and paintwork at a good shop.

Re: way too much rust ?? 2003 ext

All GMS suffer from rust in the same areas.

Mine (2004 ESV) is starting to go on the joins under the wheel arch (rear) and just above the step, your better catching it earlier than later.

My UK GM car was IDENTICAL in the SAME places, its how GM make them. They seem to join above the rear wheels, not a good idea, get about 10 year then its shot.
