    GPS is junk

Is it just mine or is the gps not accurate with streets and towns. I understand they need updated time to time but, I have streets in town that have been here since 1922. Same with towns. We have a town called Barnard, small town fourty miles from where we live. The gps said you have reached your destination in the middle of the highway. The town was 15 miles away. Who did cadillac use as a vendor to program these disks.? And will a undated disk fix this and where to get them.also you can't put in a destination while moving. Is there away to bypass that feature.

    Re: GPS is junk

You can buy an updated navigation disk for $200.00

    http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...dillackywterms

You can wire in an on/off switch to the vss wire on your nav unit. When you activate the switch, it will freeze the navigation (fooling it to think you are not moving) you enter your address and then turn the switch back off and your navigation will update.

The nav in my 2005 does suck! It's slow, hard to use and not very accurate, even with an updated disc. I just use a portable Garmin if I need directions.

The program during moving is illegal and is a safety concern in gm's eyes as far as the quality I haven't used the GPS yet so I don't know about it much yet(mainly use my iPhone when I need GPS)

I am in the pc business so I tend to let stuff slip when it comes to stuff like that my mistake

I only use the software to copy stuff I own so I have a back up copy in case the main copy gets damaged(which in my line of work happens a lot)

Excellent idea. I've had CDs damaged to where they won't be read anymore. A copy saves you from buying another for $150 or more!

    Re: GPS is junk

Sorry I'd buy a legit one if it would gauruntee there would towns more accurate then 30 miles from where there at or streets with proper names. Sorry if I sound harsh don't wanna be and I don't wanna be banned. Garminnand others don't have near the issues as this one has given us. More less a useless gps.

    ----------

Can we get a discount on the update disk if we are good boys

I do the same with my 2013 SRX with Premium package. Built in Navigation in a $45,000K auto is really garbage and Caddy expects you to pay $200.00 for a disk that is no better. Sounds like a Bill Gates operation.
We need a class action suit for them to listen.

Spent a long time conversing with GM about the GPS being severely outdated trash. Bad information can put you into an area where you and your family can be shot just for making a wrong turn. O a recent trip to St Simon Island in GA coming from Jekyll Island the map had us going on every back road until it got us lost on a trip we were familiar with. Directions from Savannah GA to Jekyll Island take you on roads seldom used since Interstate 95 was finished when I was a kid. 65 years old now. Dug the Garmin out of the trunk and no more problems. GM said it was because they have to make special GPS units across so many lines, models and years and Garmin gets satellite updates all the time. Obviously GM is needing a new manager in the GPS department and learn when to say it is time to stop supporting a ton of different systems that do not work. Informed GM that Garmin supplies their data to all sizes of ocean going and small fishing vessels, hand held units for hikers and fitness pros, a ton of assorted aircraft and more than I can remember now. Garmin stock is also $20.00 higher than GM and the working man was not forced to bail out Garmin. They are like foreign automakers not gouged to death by unions. Oh yea, I use a portable older Garmin 50 and have a lifetime of free map updates every quarter. vs. $200.00 for a worthless disk from GM. I love pulling into a new town, selecting Restaurants on my Garmin and then having it ask me what kind of restaurant. Select Chinese or Italian and that is all you get a list of. Try that with a GM GPS.... I am looking at my first foreign car. Same price as the Caddy but a lot more goodies and just as nice an auto. No more buying American just because I always have. No more supporting Told how to vote Unions who are headed to the economy of Greece with their absurd demands and little work.

I have the newest updated disc from GM and my house address can't even be found and it was built in the 60's! Yes the stock Nav unit is extremely difficult to use as well, half the time I use my iPhone 6 plus because it's faster than spending 15 minutes trying to build in an address to somewhere that's been around for decades yet it I can find every variation of the street I am looking for but the one I need! The latest disc in my opinion did nothing really for me. Just my two cents on the subject
