    Best Place to get Coil Pack for an '04 ESV?

    Well, my 2004 Escalade ESV just had the engine light come on today. I checked it with my code reader and it came back as a "P0308 - Powertrain, Cylinder 8 Missfire". Looks like I should think about replacing the coil pack and spark plug for at least cyl 8... and maybe for the other 8 cylinders (the truck has about 98K on the original ones). Anyone have any suggestions for the best deal in both spark plugs and coil packs for an '04?

    Try RockAuto, I buy a lot of parts from them. They have awesome prices!

    There are two different possible ignition coils used in the NBS Escalade 6.0 engine;

    COIL 19005218

    COIL 12558693

    The coils you could get at rockauto but make sure to get the right ones. What I would replace first, however, is plugs and wires. I like NGK plugs, TRIX 7397 for the Escalade. For wires, depending on which coil set is installed, it changes the recommendation for wire sets. 100% best way is to check your coils and then order the right length set. I would get this stuff at advance auto, use a coupon and pick it up;

    Part No. 9748HH - FOR COILS STAMPED 12558693 - $52
    Part No. 9748GG - FOR COILS STAMPED 19005218 - $76

    Ok - status update: I had the 12558693 coil. I replaced all plugs and wires and reset the trouble codes. No codes have come up so far (about 30 miles driving). Replacing the plugs/wires was a BITCH. Most of the wires were stuck like glue to the plugs - I had to get some off with channel locks. That engine is really shoehorned in there. What should have taken 45 minutes took 3 hours (and beat the heck out of my hands!). I replaces all of the plugs with the NGK's z0lt3c recommended - nice plugs! I also used a very small amount of silver anti-seize on each plug and a small amount of dielectric grease on each end of the plug wires - should be easier of I have to take em off again. One quick question - how do I know if the plug wires on are on "tight enough" to the plugs? I pushed hard as I could but some are pretty difficult to get to (cylinder 8 for instance).

    I know how you feel I had a time when I did mine

    I still haven't done the one by the ac lines due to fear of breaking them while replacing the plug or removing the wire

    The wires should click(mine did) when they are in place

    I think it was a hour and a half to do what I can do on my car in a half hour (major pita)

    Hmm... I didn't hear any clicks when I put the plug wires on the spark plugs but I did hear a click when I plugged the plug wires into the coil packs. Think I'm ok? I mean, I pushed HARD on the plug wires when putting them on the plugs... just no click .

    Maybe it was the coil pack end that clicked(only pulled one off the coil packs as it got damaged in the process of replacing the plugs(don't ask) luckily I was able to fix it and got it back on there without a problem

    As long it ain't missing its good
