Switching out a 2003 escalade head unit

Hi, i'm new to this site so hope I post this right. Can anyone tell me If there are any other factory stereos that can be interchanged with the 2003 non nav unit? I would like to get something with a screen and aux port without going aftermarket. I dont want to lose the 6 disk or steering controls.

The factory nav unit from 05 is touch screen and the aux in is a add on

You will retain the cd changer and steering wheel controls

+1, you can go with the 05 touch nav and then interface it with a PAC module to get your aux in. One word of advice, avoid the PAC ISimple Connect, and go with the PAC ISimple Media Gateway. I have the Connect, which would be awesome if it worked as advertised. It keeps losing the ability to recognize the optional HD Radio module and Aux In module I have plugged into it. The built in Bluetooth works perfectly however. I have been on the phone several times with PAC's tech support guys . Basically they released the product too early and found out later that there is a problem with the communication bus.

They have tried to rewrite a programming fix but they can't figure it out. They pretty much told me it isn't going to be fixed. I use the Bluetooth streaming 95 percent of the time anyway so it works for me but others have had much better luck with the media gateway.

Thanks for the responses. Do you know if you have to have the dealer recode the radio? And what does that entail?

The dealer will have to clear the VIN from the replacement HU with a TECH II. A 5 minute job that you'll probably be charged with .5-1 hours labor for.

I use the media gateway and love it

I can control my iPod and receive calls all from my radio

Best part is I am able to keep my eyes on the road when on my phone and not on my phone

Thanks again for all the help. I have 1 more question, I'm seeing alot of post about getting the right model #, and alot about 91/92.

Does anyone have a clue what model # is needed? And how to tell if you have a 91 or 92?

I also have an 03 and am interested in putting in a touch screen nav unit, but I would like 3.5 mm instead of the apple connector, because I have an android. Can the ISimple media gateway be used or do you recommend another option?
