    Fluid change

I'm looking to get all the fluids changed on my 03 Escalade AWD. I mean ALL the fluids. Has anyone had this done? And how much would something like this cost me?

It depends on the brand of fluids used and where it is done

    Re: Fluid change

Well, I have a someone I know doing it at the local Mavis. I might just go to the local auto store and buy all the fluids myself and have him them change it out. I'm going with synthetic oil.

Good idea but make sure you watch as some will sneak and put a different kind(eg congenital fluids)and no tell you

Should I get GM OEM fluids or other? I'm definitely doing Mobil 1 synthetic oil and filter though.

I know I like to use AMSOIL in all of our cars and the boat. But I'm a dealer so it costs a little less than buying it off the self at the store. It feels great knowing u have changed everything all at once and then u have an excellent starting point to keep track of ur intervals.

The only thing that I'd be careful to scrutinize in the transfer case fluid. In my 05 it specifies Dexron III-H fluid which isn't available anymore. I had to hunt around a bit to find out about the H specification. Mobil1 ATF I found at Autozone lists H specification on it's label. There's a lot of discussion about using the newer GM Dex VI in the transfer case and I've seen warnings against it and arguments for it. I found one exception to using Dex VI in the transfer case but that is a couple of years old. In automatics Dex VI is fine to mix with older Dex III, the GM bulletin I found though makes exception for that in the case of transfer cases and manual transmissions where Dex III-H is specified.

Having all the fluids done at a shop will likely cost you around $400-$500, the transmission change with filter is usually at least $100 of that cost. I went that route one time on a different vehicle when I lived in an HOA community where you weren't allowed to work on your vehicles, even in your own driveway. And in my case I had to go back to the Jiffy Lube where I had it done because they put the wrong fluid in my transfer case. The shop didn't put the available only through GM fluid in and the transfer case got noisy right off the bad.

    Re: Fluid change

So, my truck is going in tomorrow morning at my local Mavis. This is what I am getting done:
    -Synthetic engine oil and filter
    -Air filter
    -Coolant
-Change fluid of front and rear transfer cases
    -Transmission fluid and filter

Anything else I am missing or should do?
