Re: Hey everyone, I'm the new guy. I love my 2005 Ext

I am betting the "clunking" sound you are referring to is the slop (backlash) in the front and/or rear differential and possibly the transfer case. If your vehicle is RWD, obviously you can disregard the front different and transfer case. You can check this out yourself by jacking the vehicle until both front or both rear wheels are off the ground. Climb under the car a manually twist the drive shaft(s) to see how much movement there is before it actually rotates the wheels. Doing this movement with any kind of force should generate that clucking sound you hear when accelerating from a stop. If this is in fact what you're hearing, trying to get rid of it entirely would require rebuilding differential(s) and transfer case and it still would not likely be completely gone. Best bet is to let the vehicle move forward a little before really getting into the throttle.

By the way, welcome to the forums!

    Welcome to the forum

The clunking noise is most likely slack in the driveline
