Need Advice

Considering purchase of EXT. Hearing varied mileage ratings.
Petro prices continuing to go north in the northeast. What kind
of mileage are you getting? Any other comments, favorable
or not, for a potential EXT buyer? Thanks for your help
Always like to hear it from the owners mouth....not a
manufacturer's spec sheet.

Re: Need Advice

I have a 2004 EXT, getting around 14mpg 'average' driving...if i drove sensibly i'm sure i could get more. Luckily petrol is very cheap here.

Re: Need Advice

As a proud, new (two weeks) owner, my wife and I went through the various rationalizations necessary to buy a new vehicle which, for the EXT, included gas mileage.

My math went something like: 10,000 miles/year @ 15mpg @ $3.00/gal. (not there yet, but we know it's gonna be there and beyond eventually) versus something else that might get 22mpg. The difference in this case is $53 extra per month to drive the Escalade. For us, it was well worth it, though our friends who drive a 40mpg Prius just shake their heads in wonderment...

Our last two tanks have averaged 18.2 including several high Rocky Mountain passes and 75-80mph highway driving, but only a little around the city.

Ooh, my first post...that wasn't so bad, was it?

Re: Need Advice

The most important thing to remember is that you are considering buying a GAS GUZZLER.

Now, how this GAS GUZZLER treats you is how you treat it.

Slower driving , road conditions, and regular maintenance all play a part in controlling the beast consumption of fuel.

Now, all Escalade people know, is that when you climb aboard the beast all those " I should be driving SLOWER thoughts" just melt out of your mind, and that thing called a "Foot" takes control and that's all she rode.

By the way, I get 15-16 City & 18-20 Highway

Good Luck on your deceision

Re: Need Advice

Just curious...what do you have to pay for a gallon of petrol in the US at the moment? (I presume you use US Gallons - 3.8litres)
