New Escalade ESV owner (any issues to look out for?)

    Hello All,
I recently bought a 2004 Cadillac Escalade ESV on 02/01/13 with 144,726 miles on the ODO
This is a list of the work I have had done since owning the truck.

*Replaced the instrument cluster ($650) (dealership)
*Replaced the air bag harness under the driver's seat ($450) (dealership)
*Cleaned the fuel injectors ($100) (Dealership)
*Replaced the purge Solenoid valve ($200) (personal mechanic)
*Flushed the coolant ($100) (personal mechanic)
*Installed new rear air shocks and rear air shock compressor ($2200) (personal mechanic)
*Installed new gas cap ($20) myself (gas cap from AutoZone)
    * New Pioneer AVIC 150 BH Navigation Radio ($1500) (old navigation was shot) (crutchfield -purchased)(Sound Shop - install)

This is what I have done so far. Is there anymore issues that I need to be aware of? I will be taking a 2,000 + mile trip in June so I want to be aware if there is anything to look out for. I have always wanted an ESV so far I have been spending a good deal of $ but I got the truck for a good price.
Any suggestions you guys might have will be appreciated

    Thanks

I think the biggest issue these have is that they burn through the front differential bearings for some reason... but if it is not making noise then i think you are good to go.

Check the brakes, Particularly the rear brakes for wear, you wont get much notice till the metal is grinding.

When I got my 04 ESV a month ago I changed the front diff fluid, engine oil, transfer case fluid, and replaced the rear brakes. From what I've read on here the front diff is notorious for failing if not properly maintained. My front diff is making the growling sound now

1.front diff. if to late rebuild use a good synthetic fluid. i found they get dirty quick without a good syn oil. if u do flush refill with syn flush again after 3k miles then ur good. add a bottle of lubegard gearfluid additive
2.stepper motors. cause the guages to not work properly but i see u got a new cluster
3.oil pickup o ring. this causes air to enter in the oil system causing low oil pressure noise. easy fix drop oil pan replace o ring in oil pickup
4.fuel pump sender. they will go bad. i just got a new pump with updated sender and wiring. all minor issues.

Is the diff growling sound loud. Will I be able to notice it driving with the radio off ? I don't plan on doing any maintenance myself I'm not mechanically inclined. If I put new diff fluid in it won't damage the diff will it?

So long as you used the correct stuff then no, as alot of time the Differentials NEVER get changed

Today I listened to the truck as I was driving it. I do hear a sort of rubbing or scrubbing sound from the front as I drive between 20-40 MPH. I will be taking it to my mechanic on Tuesday for diagnosis. Well so much for my road trip 😞

I will update you guys as to the status. Ill take the truck to my mechanic on Tuesday.

I'll be taking the truck to my mechanic on Tuesday. I'll update you guys then. Other than the scrubbing sound (which you have to listen hard to hear). The truck runs great.

It could be a wheel bearing so check those as they can sound like that also
Does the noise go away when you make a turn if yes then its the wheel bearing
Don't forget the u joints on the drive shafts
Plus cv joints can do this also

Yes. I have the app for my iPhone. It makes posting real easy. I think the rims are okay but I could have gone for the OEM Cadillac rims. I won't be going any bigger as I have a 98 Yukon with 28" wheels on it and a caprice with 22"s. I want to make this my long distance vehicle and I don't know if it is true with the escalade or not but for my other vehicles the ride quality suffers a little.

I have seen people say it does hurt the ride some

I have the app and I agree is a time saver
