    Troubleshooting pop in front end

I have recently purchased a 2002 escalade ext and when I back up or turn sharp a feel a pop in the front left wheel. Not sure what it can be but I have found some documentation that points to several different causes but none definitive on what the cause is or how to diagnose. I have read about the transfer case, cv joints, ball joints, or tie rod ends. Can anyone help me with pinpointing what might be causing the issue?

Jack up the front end and grab the wheel by 3 & 9 o'clock and see if there is play. Then grab the wheel 12 & 6 and see if there is any play. That should check for the rod ends and ball joints. As far as CV joints and transfer case is concerned you need to look and see if there is excessive movement.

Do you have a shake or vibration while driving?
