Installed a Magnaflow system on the Escalade today, my impressions.

First it's a beautiful system, almost mirror like finish on the muffler and very shiny stainless pipes. The only quality complaint I have is that they didn't include new bolts to attach it to the stock flange. Has anyone ever removed the stock system after a life in snow/salt country and had the bolts survive? I ended up snapping both bolts right off the stock system and had to cut the strap on the second pipe to remove it. It's probably what took the longest during the installation. Installing the Magnaflow was a cinch, 3 pieces and good access under the truck to get to the clamping points. One nice item was Magnaflow included quality strap clamps unlike the Gibson system I installed on the V today.

First impressions of the system, although it's beautiful I'm not at least after about 20 miles happy with the resonance which is A LOT more than I expected. It sounds great unloaded at idle and revving it up in the driveway. Put it in gear though and my feet actually vibrate when resting on the floorboards and the vibration comes on strong as you accelerate. Basically any RPM where the engine is loaded I'm getting resonance. Hopefully I'll grow into it but just in case I cut the stock system where it's straight pipe so only a connector will be necessary to reinstall it if I decide this system isn't for me. I'll give it some time and a few trips on my 100 mile work commute to see how I feel about it.

i had a magnaflow exhaust on my 03...it was put on by previous owner, so i don't know what system...but it sounded throaty at idle, and when i'd hit the peddle, but it was not bad at cruising speeds..no vibrations through the floor

Interesting, it's the same kit as I have then. The 03-06 show the same number in the catalog. Ok, I'll have to get under it again today and take another look. I finished up the installation in the dark so maybe I have some contact interference somewhere. I looked last night and didn't see any but you know how things appear between day and night. Thanks for that bit of info.

What did you ever find in the end... I know exhaust will be a must for me at some point. The thing is quiet and should sound like a V8!

I would have gone with the Corsa Touring exhaust. I've seen more satisfied posts over the years about that exhaust than any other for the Escalade. Most posts here say it's the perfect balance of a throaty exhaust tone, without being over bearing or having drone at highway speeds.

If your exhaust is too loud the day you install it, you should know it won't get any quieter as it ages.
The above post is my 2 cents....nothing more.

Yeah...sounds to me like you have something in a bind. Get it back in the air and have a look. Some times a little heat and a pry bar will work wonders.

    ----------

I read all these Exhaust posts with interest because i want to do something with mine. The last exhaust mod I did was on a short wheel base 2 door Tahoe I had a shop install Manaflow 50 series dual outlet muffler and ran twins out from there...exiting the rear on each side just behind the rear wheels on each side. i used Smitty Stainless Oval tips. It looked factory and sounded perfect...very mellow with no drone at all.

I think someone makes a custom kit like that for the standard wheel base Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade but has anyone seen it for the long wheelbase Suburban/ESV ?

    UPDATE...I found it!!!http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...B25140029.html

This is the one I want....very classy and understated ...but looks like "Serious Business".

Borla builds this one. Anyone have any experience with this one? I really want to do this one!!

I like the sound but not the duels out each side.

I like because if Cadillac did it that is how it would be done. The Tahoe SS a few years ago was similar.

I'm "Old School and I like the "True Dual" look.,,,two banks of cylinders...exhaust from each bank on each side.
