I don't know if the ss team got disbanded or not(for sure) while gm was under the government

    Guess not...

    http://news.consumerreports.org/cars...ts-415-hp.html

"The underhood magic comes from a 6.2-liter LS3 V8--the same basic powerplant used in the current Corvette. Here it produces 415 horsepower, routed through a six-speed automatic transmission. Manual gear selection is enabled through steering-wheel paddles, but no true manual tranny will be offered. Chevrolet claims 0-60 mph times in about five seconds, putting it deep in modern muscle car territory"

    0-60 in 5...Very Serious!!

I had heard rumors of the ss team being disbanded maybe gm had out on the ss package on the impala (my uncle was going to get one but someone else beat him to it) the claim of the 0-60 time in 5 seconds is close to corvette territory.

Love that Grand National!!! Most younger guys don't even know what that is!!! My cousin and I used to run one at Commerce Ga. Dragstrip near Atlanta. We ran a beefed up Indy Block, an Art Carr transmission and 22 lbs of boost....car ran consistent low 9's and we drove it to the track!!!

Thanks guys. That GN is my pride and joy...and money pit. In the last two years, I have completely rebuilt/upgraded the engine & trans. New bigger/more modern turbo with bigger intercooler, along with whole host of other upgrades. I'm running a conservative 22-23 lbs of boost. It's a blast to drive.

Not yet, hoping to do that this summer . This thing scares the hell out of me at WOT but drives very civilized when not in full boost.
