Service ride control - 2002 Escalade

I own a 2002 Escalade. My "service ride control" message is on. Can anyone tell me what that's means? How do I fix it? And how much does it cost? Thanks for any feedback.

    Re: Service ride control

On an STS it would mean replacing some very expensive shocks. YMMV!

Go to a local autop parts store, and borrow their code reader. Write down the codes, look up their definitions and post them here.

Let's move this from the chit-chat Lounge to the proper year Escalade forum. Please read the text in a forum title box to find out what gets posted where. Thanks.

Most likely the compressor has failed but you need the codes to be sure

x2 cadillac man...in my case, it was the rear air shocks that needed replacing...you should be able to hear the compressor cycling on/off. it's located just behind the driver side rear wheel well.

Re: Service ride control - 2002 Escalade

Anthony, I have a 2003 Escalade that I purchased just a year ago. I recently started getting the same message. I went to change the oil my self for the first time, and when I crawled underneath the vehicle, to my surprise, there is grease zerks all over underneath that i was not aware of and so I greased them and now the message is gone. I figured this being a Caddy, it would have non-greaseable suspension (ride control), but it has quite a few. After greasing the zerks and finishing my oil change, I took it around the block and restarted it a couple times and never saw the message again. I found 3 zerks on each front tire suspension. Hope this helps.

What if you replaced all 4 shocks, is there a reset on this error?

    Year old thread.

Several things can trigger the message, you have to have your codes pulled.

And no, there is no "reset". OBD sees a problem, and it will display the message until it's fixed.
