    2000 5.7 vortec blown heads

    Was just wondering if I can use a different block from a different GM truck or do I have to use one from a different escalade. I would like to use a used block and wanted to know before I do all this work hopefully the 5.7 vortec are the same

    All year Vortech will work....all the same. You state blown heads in the title....can you explain? Head gaskets can go bad, but never seen blown heads....

    I'm sorry the head gaskets blew 3 4 5 and 6 have zero psi I m going to try to do the gaskets first but if thats a no go I'm just going to do a moter swap but wanted to be ready with the info thank you

    All Vortecs will work. Your best option if the gasket deal doesn't work is a Vortec Long block from any number of sources. I have 2: L31 4: Bolt Main based Vortecs with Comp Cams Rollers going in my 26' formula in a few weeks. If you swap it's pretty easy to get 400 horse and 425 ft lbs of torque with out getting into exotic stuff with a Vortec...lot of bang for the buck.

    good advice sprink.

    On the heads you have (assuming they are the aluminum ones) have a machine shop check for warpage and barely resurface taking as little off as possible, but fresh rebuilt vortechs are very afforadble as a long block.
