    Air Ride

Have read several threads on this forum stating that I should hear the compressor turn on after the car sits overnight. I have never heard the compressor however the car always seems to sit level. I usually am driving the car alone and have never pulled a trailer. Do I assume that the compressor is bad? I cant see investing in diagnosing this due to not seeing any deterioration in the ride. I have an 05.

I have a 05 and it sits level also but it comes on ever time I start it. Turn car on and jump on the bumper if it is working it will trigger it to go on

The reason you don't hear the compressor is cause it has failed are you getting the service ride control when you start the truck or not, if not it may be a fuse but if the fuse is good then the compressor will need replacing.

No service ride control on dash. I'll try hopping onto the bumper. Car drives fine and sits level so I can't see replacing & this time if that's the case. How much is a new compressor?

    Re: Air Ride

Just FYI if you're not the original owner the compressor may have already gone out, and many owners choose to replace with a different set of shocks rather than try to replace the compressor. There are also several threads on this forum about that subject.
The above post is my 2 cents....nothing more.

If you felt a slight vibration as you stood on the bumper, and positive that it wasn't the engine, then that was more than likely the compressor.

If you drive alone and don't ever pull a trailer, the air ride really wouldn't be serving it's purpose anyway. If you are satisfied with how it rides now, why mess with it. If you have future plans to tow something or haul a bunch of people than that changes things, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

I agree also mike I have tried to pm you and it never went through.
FYI to the op if you ever hear what sounds like a gunshot it is most likely your shocks cause I had mine do like this when they blew out one was at 2am(driver's side) the other blew out while I was driving and it scared me half to death cause I thought someone was shooting at me (don't why it was the first thought in my head but it was) but I found out it was the passenger side shock after I got home ever since the rear bounces up and down like crazy when I haul stuff in the rear.
