    Front Differential & Moving Lade

I want to remove the front Diff to rebuild it. Going to do this in my Garage ( I have a lift). My question is can I drive the Lade for a short distance with the front Diff removed? Want to take it off the live and put it next to my garage until I'm ready to put the Diff back in.

if you have a all wheel drive it is not advisable as you won't have park no clue as to why but it is that way.

Not having park is not a problem. Any other reason I can't move the truck?

That's what I remember reading. I think it had something to do with the way the TC works with locking the 68/32 R/F torque split.

You're not supposed to remove the front driveshaft and tow the vehicle either.

from what i have heard from tow truck drivers it can cause the transfer case to grenade due to it bring to compensate for the lose of front traction but don't hold me to this although most of the time i had my truck towed it was with a haul back which is the only way to move the truck without damaging something unless you have a trailer then you would still need a way of getting the truck on it also my uncle said the power split is 60 rear 40 front it is that way on all of the all wheel drive setups even my dad's h2 is this way.

I don't know if it could do any damage or not but if you do it will be at your risk as I don't know if it could cause any damage or not in that short of distance.

You may just have to leave it on the lift and use a back-up car.
