    engine codes after deep water

We had a lot of rain last week and the roads flooded. I had to drive in a couple feet of water and two knock sensor codes came up, and the truck runs very rough when maintaining speeds, but feels fine excellerating or idling. The codes were 327 and I think 334 the book gave the same meaning for both, low voltage to knock sensors. What is the fix for this?

i'd say if i am not mistaken that the water got into the knock sensors and shorted them, i suggest you also check out your diff fluid also cause water might have got into there also just to be safe.

Would the sensors make the truck run rough from 40 to 50 MPH or would what ever is making the truck run rough cause the sensors to activate?

Yes it would make the truck run rough the best way to find out for sure is go to a dealer to sure it didn't short out something else.

I'm betting your engine swallowed some water and the resulting hydro-lock bent a couple of connecting rods. Your engine is toast.

Well that doesn't sound very encouraging. I just bought oil, filter, air filter and plugs along with seafoam. Will try that in the am. I would think if the rods were bent I would feel it on excelleration.

I'm assuming the engine didn't lock up. In which case it would be one or two rods mildly bent. The usual result is after a while either the crankshaft breaks or it throws a rod. If it's bad enough to affect the running it won't last long. Hopefully, maybe it is just some water trapped some where.

that would be a bit hard to do if it is just 2 feet of water due to where the air box placement is which is as close to the top of the fender as possible.

Water splashs and sprays. It's never a good idea to drive down a flooded street.

I will agree with you there but I have driven in water covered roads but I do it slowly as to prevent stuff like this from happening although there are some times I just won't try it.

There have been some previous similar threads involving driving in deep water and the final result turned out to be hydraulic lock. It only takes a half a cup of water in the wrong place and the damage is done.

i know about what hydro lock does to a engine i have a glow engine powered rc car and if the engine gets flooded it is at risk of damaging it so i know water isn't a good thing at all to a engine and yes i know when i drive in deep water i am risking the engine in my truck but back to the op if he did in fact bend a connecting rod it can be replaced cheaper then a whole engine.

The problem is that the cankshaft is often bent and is the first thing to break right at a rod journal in the fillet.

Here's hoping it's just some water in the wrong place and no mechanical damage. Maybe the guy should trade for an Amphicar. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...SB3aKxjSNO50OQ
