    Air bag light

Anyone know about any issues, my light came on today and also says to service air bag now. I don't care if I have to fix stuff but it would be nice if I could get done with one issue before starting on the next one lol

    Re: Air bag light

Just had the same issue with my 2005 ESV. Took mine to the crooks at the local shop and was charged $80.00 to diagnose the problem. They claim BOTH front bumber sensors. I'm find it hard to believe both went bad at the exact same time but anyway. They wanted $650 to replace them. Said the parts were $420 which would mean they were going to charge roughly $200 to plug in two little sensors. Needless to say I told them I wouldn't be visiting their service department EVER again. Found the parts online for between $120 and $140 a piece and it's a piece o' cake replacing them. Disarm airbag by pulling negative battery cable followed by the airbag fuse and wait 30 mins to let system charge drain. Then just unscrew the original sensor which is right behind the frong bumber (visible from underneath) and plug in the new one. Simple as that.

My 05 has the same problem but only one of them needs replacing, the drivers side front.

Seems to be a pretty common problem. Anyone know if there's a recall out for these sensors?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the original sensors are being replaced by a new one as they go bad. If you look up the number on the original sensor it references a different part number. Like I said, not entirely sure, but the new sensors will be a different part number than the orignal.

While test driving my 05 ESV the light came on, had the dealer fix this before purchase. they said one of the sensors needed to be replaced.

Just had a similar problem with my 08 escalade. Out of the blue the service airbag light came on, took it to a independent repair shop. It ended up being a left front impact sensor. They replaced it for $220 part cost 130 bucks and they wacked me with an hour labor. It def fixes the problem.
