    Escalade squeak

I have a question my 2003 Escalade has a squeak either in the brakes or a tire I guess on the driver side. It only makes the noise when you a driving under 10 miles an hour. It's very annoying and people outside the vehicle can notice it too. It gets kind of embrassing.

Does it vary with speed if yes the it is a bearing going if not the u joints on the driveshaft I know that the u joints are a pain to work I had to replace them on my other car
But to be sure I need some more details I know mine did a popping noise on the u joints when they were bad going onto the highway from my road kinda of makes you uneasy when your by yourself.

    Re: Escalade squeak

It sounds more of a brake squeak to me. A shop was supposed to have changed them when I bought it but I don't believe they did. It just makes that sound when you pull out somewhere and go up to 10 miles per hour. Sounds seems to be coming from drivers side wheel area.

Is it a one time squeak sound, or does it occur every time you are driving under 10mph? Also, is it continuous or does it come and go?

Unless you see the work being done never take a shop's word I suggest going to a shop that you know and trust.

Sounds like they didn't replace your brake pads. When the pads are almost gone, there is a metal tab that hits the rotor and squeals (loudly) to let you know to change your pads before you destroy the rotors. You should have someone check your brake pad immediately.

I was going to say the exact same thing. This happened in one of my old mustangs, it got so bad that the squeak was constant under 10 mph. Pretty bad, especially in a parking garage! Had the brake pads and rotors changed out and it was good as new.
