The other day I back into a parked vehicle with my wife's 2005 Escalade and did some damage to both vehicles. We have now noticed that the reverse sensors are not working properly, just the red light lights up. Could have that knocked out/damaged the sensors. The cadillac dealer did not put those in on the repair estimate.
Not to be a dick, but are you sure they were working when you backed into another vehicle? To answer your question, yes that could surely have damaged them. If your chime is not functional, I would highly recommend getting that fixed as well. The audible warning is a much better attention grabber for me than just a set of lights on the rear pillar.
i agree and if you need to test the system there is a connector near the module for this it is under the right second row seat.
