Has anyone upgraded their nav radio unit to a Rosen unit? I understand that it is for the most part it is a plug and play retaining the steering wheel controls and On Star without an adapter.
Is a Rosen unit the touchscreen that came out in 2005? If so, the dealer swapped mine out after having to replace mine twice for the fan burning out. I think they are just plug and play, but I would verify.
They are an aftermarket custom fit nav receiver I don't know if they are plug and play but I know you have to hard wire it for the steering wheel controls to still function. They are also very expensive I would rather buy an Alpine orPioneer and the adapters.
it is all about the fit and finsh with that brand and they do have more compatibility with the stock features but some are the same as other radios best bet is stick to oem if you want everything to work without worry.
if you go aftermarket you will lose the rear seat audio controls and the audio from the dvd player you might be able to keep the steering wheel controls but that is pretty much it from some of the adaptors i have seen it is about 100 dollars on top of the radio cost and that is to retain the bose system and rap feature and the one for the steering wheel controls has to be factored in to the price also.
yes if you put a 05/06 touch screen nav in your truck everything will work without a problem you just have to have the dealer use the tech-2 to have it relearn the vin of your truck.
Where can you buy a Rosen cheaper than a Pioneer or Alpine? The adapters cost around $160 for the interface and steering wheel control interface for an aftermarket deck. What is better about Rosen's nav I don't think I have ever messed with the nav on one?
I can honestly say there is no way the 2nd generation Escalade Nav is better than aftermarket. Bluetooth, 3D, POI searches... Aftermarket nav, especially Kenwood w/ Garmin are fantastic!!!
it depends on if you like to use the speaker system to listen to dvd's on the rear entrainment system which i am sure can't be done with an aftermarket radio plus the risk o someone stealing the radio is a lot lower with a stock nav radio then an aftermarket i know.
I am in the auto business my cost on the Rosen is 703.00 plus 100.00 for rear camera. Pioneer is 950.00 Alpine is 875.00 both with same features that the Rosen has. Rosenentertainment.com model DS-GM1010-P11
I'd like to be able to hook up my iPod to my stereo, but there isn't a data port, and in a 2003 Escalade ESV there isn't bluetooth. I'd prefer just the cable. Short of replacing the entire nav and stereo, is there any workaround?
