I had a similar issue with my 02 Escalade. It was the front axel seal which was relatively simple. If the rear is similiar the part is about $45 at autozone.

the thing to it is he has had open heart surgery and can't do it himself will it hurt his truck just to drive it to the dealer like this?
i know he would do himself if he could so is the local dealer the best bet or try a local transmission shop do it i looked at it my self it don't look to hard to do plus i just looked on autozone.com and the bearing and seal kit is anywhere from 100 to 250 bucks for his truck it might be best for him to take it to the local dealer and the price is the same for the escalades too so what to do

Any decent mechanic should be able. It shouldn't hurt to go to the dealer. I am assuming that there is still fluid in there. If its a leak and not just streaming out, he should be fine.

drips every second but it is not streaming he told me he was going to try to look at it soon and he said that there is no whining from the rear end is that a good sign
