Also, where is the sticker in the glovebox that shows whether it has a y91 or y92 option? |

This will have a list of numbers. If your car is equipped to handle the navigation system. it will be listed on this tag. |

Also be sure to get the GPS antenna module too. Part# 15135178. prolly find one on ebay for about 65 bucks or so.
I just swapped out my Reg CD HU for the 2005 TNR Part# 15230099. Fortunately mine was unlocked when I got it. Everything works flawlessly so far, just need to order the NAV Disc now.
For the record mine is a 2003 Escalade with Y91 option and the BOSE lux system. No mods required whatsoever. Was a 10 minute swap. Just disconnect the battery to be safe. Thanks a million to the board members for all the info, it's come in quite handy. |

I am new here and have been reading all of this helpful information and did see that there is another nav and gps unit listed on ebay under 2005 GM Denali Escalade Navigation Hummer DVD TV GPS. I hope to be in an EXT by April. |

It's manufacturer-specific, so there's no way to change the boot picture without changing the VIN in the computer. Even then, you're limited to manufacturer-specific boot screens. The only other method I could think of is to hack the firmware inside the head unit itself, but that is going to be incredibly difficult without help from Delphi (the company that actually makes the units) or a *REALLY* smart firmware/hardware hacker. Something tells me those kind of people aren't reading this forum. |

From what I can tell, it's a standard touchscreen nav unit that comes with the in-dash CD changer. Also make sure to match the head with the amplifier module in your vehicle. There are a few different amplifier units out there, and they're all incompatible with one another. They are:
1: Non-Bose (usually found in basic trim of GMC and Chevy trucks/SUVs - certainly not in a Cadillac)
2: Bose (usually found in the LT/SLT trim of GMC and Chevy trucks/SUVs, possibly some Cadillacs)
3: Bose Lux (usually found in the GMC Denali trim and Cadillac SUVs)
I don't know the build-codes for each of them (off the top of my head, anyway), but it's pretty easy to find if you search for a little bit. |

The 3rd one is the one we all have identified by the Y91 meaning it has Bose with an Amplifier such as in the Denali and Escalade/EXT/ESV. Most of the Avalanche forums have quite alot of information on adding the factory navigation | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
