I had the same thing happen with the auto volume. Didn't work with the old radio, but works now with the touch screen unit.
If you can afford to put one in, these touch screen units are the way to go. |

Do you have another link to your pictures? I am doing the same install this weekend in my 04 Sierra Denali and a picture is worth a thousand words.
Thanks, Sierra Denali |

Why I'm not sure. It might be because of the Body Module or Lux Amp being different from the 2003's and Up.
Maybe FlyingDutchMan or a Technical person can answer why? |

The dealer agreeded to fix it and as for compensation I asked them to add a factory nav. system. Of course they told me they talked to Gm techs. and they told them this was not possible. I have an 03 ext so I know its possible from reading these posts. Can someone please help me set them straight b/c I think that they just don't want to do it. I need to know what parts (part #'s) I need to order and what is involved in swapping the radio's. They told me that they need to change the whole harness for the wiring. Is it really direct plug and swap of the old radio. And is there any wiring that needs to be swapped out. They told me that if I could show them an invoice from another dealer doing the swap it would be easier for them. Please help me set them straight. E-mail me syext@hotmail.com or call me (215)796-1040 if you have experience with this swap. Already pissed off that they ruined my truck and now they call me with this BULLSH*T. |

Is that wire also direct plug in or do you have to splice something. I have a feeling the dealer won't go out of their way to connect this. So can i do without it? |

My dealership is asking for a telephone # to a dealership that has done this. |

Also stopped by the Chevy Avalanche Forumns. Everything was very helpful. I was a little hung up with the VSS, but Flyingdutchman and his photos were very helpfull.
Before this thread started I asked my Cadillac Dealer if they could do this. I was abruptly cut off by the service manager saying that all the modules would have to be swaped out, costing God only knows how much money.
Armed with all the information I stopped by our local "CarTunes" shop and these guys knew everything I wanted to do. Even had them install the XM receiver that was present in my vehicle.
IMO Dealers do not want to do this type of install. I don't think they know how! |

I see you have made the switch 6 times you say. I just got a 2003 Escalade EXT and I want to get the touch screen navigation. Any chance you can e-mail me your phone number to russ_galloway@yahoo so I can get the names of the people you ordered your navigation units from on Ebay and a few other installation questions. I will not be installing it myself, but my friend will and if he runs into a problem I want to know I have someone to call in a panic!!! Thanks ahead of time.Frank |

Can the navigation head unit, the GPS antenna and the DVD be purchased directly through AC Delco if I am just a regular consumer? If this is not possible, does anyone know a good Ebayer who sells the Touch Screen Navigation Units?? I tried to go to gpspartsdirect.com but it did not work. I tried to go to the AC Delco website and punch in the item numbers, they said it was not avialiable!!! I need help people!! If I do this will my 6 CD changer still work, and my steering wheel controls?? By the way, I have a 2003 Escalade EXT. Thank you in advance.

If I turn my radio to 89.9 it plays the sound of the movie through the speakers. If I change from my regular radio to the touch screen nav, will something have to be re-wired to keep that feature or not?? I don't know a lot about cars but am trying to learn. Thanks
