I still have XM, FM, AM, CD changer, and the steering wheel controls all work fine. All functions on the radio work as advertized as well as the navigation which is terrific. The only thing not working appears to be the Variable Speed Sensor, which I mentioned in a previous post. |

It does not let you put in destinations unless you are basically stopped. It does not have an aux input for a rear camera. That would have been nice. |

This is interesting as my GMC dealer (I have 2003 Denali without Nav) said that I could not just upgrade the head unit...that the entire wiring harness was different and it was not this simple.
Was he incorrect? It sure seems so here. I would be surprised that a radio option would change my wiring harness.....!
Where does the Nav antenna go? We already have the XM and Onstar and radio antenna....I dont recall having seeing another on any NAV vehicle.
Thanks!

Takke some time and do some research as Alwest has done. He suggest the Avalanche site which I found to be very helpful. |

Also, you mentioned that you had the reset instructions for the Tech-2 already printed for the dealer. Where did you get them? Thanks. |

I'm sure anyone with a tech II can figure it out.............. |

It seems to be little known fact I picked up from someone a couple of days ago. So, guys, if you don't like surprises you'd better do your home work and bring your dealer instructions on how to do it. I know those instructions float around. I even saw a guy on ebay was offering them along with the unit. Unfortunately I don't have them myself. Lack of them made me visit my dealership twice. Both times they were trying to convince me it wouldn't work since the radio has a different part #, incompatible with my truck. Only upon my continuous insistance that I know for a fact it can be done (I also showed them printouts from this and Avalanche forums) they finally figured out the way to do it. Both technitians talked to me personally and it did look like they had no clue. |

I would also guess that the tech II comes with a manual and instructions. I wouldn't think that they expect all the techs to figure out the tech II and it's funtions on their own. It sounds like your dealer is just lazy or doesn't want you to prove them wrong. In any case, someone will step up with the instructions for you at some point. Maybe you should ask over at the Avalanche site also. Good luck>
I do know that when they are inputting information in the techII that it is important that they tell it the correct climate control system. It somehow interfaces with the radio, believe or not. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
