Need Part Number 2005 Escalade Touch Screen Nav Radio

Guys and Gals,

Great info in here on installing a touchscreen nav radio, but the install pics don't show up. Is it my computer? If anyone has pics of installing Radio and GPS antenna please repost or email to me.

Hey LostDTS, this is the guy you left a message for about the dvd nav in the 01 and earlier. I'm pretty new at this forum thing (years and years in the install bay... making famous peoples' cars sweet and shop owners rich) anyway it said I do not have enough posts to message you directly??? So I'm sending you this to tell you that it is possible!! Not only that I haven't had it programmed at the dealer it just fired right up and I am using an out of date disc! I went on the website and it said there is an upgrade availablewhich I plan to get. The driver 1, driver 2 functions perfectly. The onstar and the phone works, the changer does not I think I need one from a 2005. I can play movies via the music note plus code. The dvd nav also gets 1000% better FM radio. Did yours suck too? The install was a bear but as I always say never say impossible. I can't give details as I have not written them out but I did keep many many notes too much for this post. Write me back and I'll build up my status enough to message you, I guess that's what I gotta do. Also the only wires i ran were super high quality phoenix gold twisted pair with drain wire single tube rca's that i have on a spool, and a 13 ithink foot antenna extension with GM adapters. I love it! Write me about that stering wheel also on e-bay i'm selling the complete cd-rom nav changer etc. and my impala SS. Was that a plug?lol

Question I see some Nav units on ebay that say no code stored in unit does that mean I do not have t ogo to the dealer to get it turned on

I read through all the post and most of the links of the install arent working. Does anyone have a link or pics of taking apart the navigation system or installing one? I have a 05 Escalade and I need to take it out in order to get a stuck cd from inside it. Anyone have ideas or instructions or pics?

Hello all,
Newbie here...glad I found this forum. After reading through all 11 pages on this subject let me see if I understand this correctly.
I have a 2003 Escalade ESV-Non touchscreen navigation with seperate 6 disc changer. wanting to upgrade to touchscreen navigation system which is why I'm visiting this forum (plus it's full of info!)

Here is what I've been told
1. from car aodio place=can not install a touchscreen factory unit but can install a aftermarket at the cost of 2000 (go figure hidden agenda)
2. dealership just says no way (says analog vs digital)
3. another audio place says no replacing factory unit cause it will disable my overhead DVD unit (this just didn't make sense???)
4. Salvage yard that deals in GM says yes but be sure to get pigtail incase plug is different and have to splice.

From my understanding, correct me where I'm wrong, according to this site
a. as long as I find a factory touch screen head unit with the Y91 option it will change out plug and play (maybe a reset) with no other install pieces needed
b. still have navigation, wheel controls, working overhead DVD unit, and any other options that I don't want to miss out on.

Sorry for such a long post just wanted to try and keep it a simple yes or no as long as the unit with Y91 option is found.

I trust forums much more than I do any dealer anymore cause it's lots of people with personal experience that have usually done the install their self and knows what works and what doesn't.

sorry one more thing...also as long as the touch screen is out of a 2003-2006 it will fit cause after that they changed the styles correct?

The 2007> has a totally different physical Navigation unit (its larger, about twice the height).

The <2002 wont fit (if they made one) as the 2003-2006 trucks have a type II databus (which is needed by the Navigation unit).

The unit you need depends on the Y91 / Y92 options (Bose Lux amp).

The 2005-2006 units are touchscreen (TNR)
